Railyard Hobbies Racing - 2015

Railyard Racing, 2015...
Railyard Hobbies
100 Heritage Drive
Elverson, PA 19520
https://www.railyardhobbies.com/

As to avoid confusion with the other threads out there, I'm putting this thread up for our races and events for our small scale on-road program at Railyard. As of now we have approximately 500 square feet of RCP track there for use. Railyard now has an excellent inventory of RTR kits, chassis and aftermarket racing grade parts as well!

The Rental track is always available for practice and tuning all business hours, and there is a fleet of rental Mini-Z available for practice and some pick up races as well! Inquire with the shop for fees that will apply.

Our club is more about the fun of RC racing and less about the drama! It does get just as serious sometimes but none of our crew are hotheads (well maybe one or two on rare occasions) and all of our racers are more than willing to help out with issues anywhere from tuning to purchases, even to driving tips! We've been having a great time at our new home at Railyard and we hope you'll join us for the best, most innovative scale of on-road racing out there!

The dates below are when we will have the RCP track set up to race with our Club lap counting system and one or more of our club members will be on hand to help out with any issues.

The dates below are all Sundays, 11am to 5pm. We usually start our heats around 1pm - 2pm and start our mains around 3pm - 4pm.

I will update who plans to be there and who has attended as our schedule progresses. (asterisk designates dates past)

I have mine too... PTs would definitely interest me.

Handout motors for Stock type or just go crazy and run Mod PTs?

It would be interesting to get some of the guys from Majs to come race and check out the track. We are currently running a 50t turn class with Nimh so we wouldn't be too far off from what you guys are running but I think maybe an r8 or 458 spec body would be easier to run.

+1 narrow at all 4 corners, 94mm autoscale.

you are correct. if the desire is to be easy an r8 or 458 would be an easy choice.

not my race though, just offering ideas

50 turn PT Enduro?... I'm basically an offset/wheelbase change away from that class.

I have a Silver and pee/mustard yellow one ready to go.

If we do go PT, we'll have to give Larry some time to get one painted before the race though.

if you want to go this route, dont bother painting. i have 12 new in box autoscales. 4 blue, 4 silver, 4 gold. we can just sticker them up with numbers like the kyosho mini-z cup does and keep it simple. no need for anyone to spend any money on the bodies at all.

I am all for running a PT Cruiser Enduro, sounds like fun. But for the sake of all participants, some of which have never driven anything faster than a 70t, think we should limit the motor to 70t, open ratio as a compromise.

We may want to even consider running two races.

Race one:
- 2 hours, PT cruiser - 70t motor

Race two:
- 3 hours, anything goes. Lets see what kind of advantage lipos and brushless motors would potential give a team vs AAAs and brushed motors in any combination.

Just thinking out loud?

while thinking out loud, why not just make it a 5600KV or less brushless race? the speeds would be very similar to 70t. it may make it more fun for drivers with less pit time required for battery changes, depending on motor choice and ICS settings.

Good idea, would give everyone wheel time with a brushless car.
Possibly winning some people over.
