Freedom Enduro 2006
Today will be the second running of the Freedom Endurance race for the Salt Lake Mini-Z Club.
The track will consist of 5 wide L's, 1 expansion pack and a few other track elements.
We are running a 1 hour endurace race, with trophies awarded specifically for this race. Trophy postions are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. We are expecting to have around 12 racers on the track at the same time for 1 hr.
Should be very exiting and entertaining.
I'll post Pictures and hopefully get some good video that I will post up too.

Sounds exciting. What do most drivers usually run for this? I imagine a mod car *might* help you open up a gap if the course is wide enough to make a difference but a stock car would lead to longer runtimes and less battery changes.

I forgot to post the rules. We as a club run "Stock Class" Rules are very similar to HFAY. We are upgrading to a faster motor, but for this race we are limiting the motor to the Kyosho stock motor to keep everything even and leave the rest to diving, batteries, and of course luck
We are expecting a minimum of 1 battery change, but some will probably do 2 for a different stradigy (sp?)

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm expecting 2 battery changes. But I guess we'll see how it goes. Should be exciting and certainly entertaining.

If you have a by-stander and a stop watch, it would be interesting to post those Pit Times of the battery changes.

Our Enduro was a great success. The Turnout was smaller than expected, but fun was had by all. Here is the sum up
It was a close race between 1st. and 2nd. with the final lead change taking place with less than a minute to go.
The Race for 3rd was a tight one also. I thought Clanure had it, but it turns out that I edged him by 1 lap. Lucky me
Chad 224 Laps (Fastest Lap 13.78) 16.14 average, 1 battery change
Aaron (Z Zaniac) 223 Laps (Fastest Lap 13.45) 16.21 average, 3 battery Changes
Brian (briankstan) 207 Laps (Fastest Lap 14.59) 17.40 average, 3 battery Changes
Lynn (Clanure) 206 Laps (Fastest Lap 14.53) 17.57 average, 3 battery Changes
Luke 177 Laps (Fastest Lap 15.50) 20.45 average, 3 battery Changes
Jacob (LiberySyclone) 151 Laps (Fastest Lap 17.28) 23.80 average, 0 battery Change

Looks like it was a lot of fun. And if I'm reading that chart right, your winner did his battery change well towards the end of the race. That's pretty cool, for a car to last that long on one charge.

Are you sure Z Zaniac didn't get miised in lap 168? It looks like that could possibly be a double lap there...

Most of us went with 2 battery changes. Chad caught a break when Aaron grabbed a set that wasn't charged right at the end, and had to change them again. that let Chad take the lead within the last minute of the race.
I had to pull off and put a new set of tires on, kept thowing the ones that were on there was very lucky to hold on for third.
I think that Jacob tried to go the whole Hour on 1 set of batteries. I think he ended up chaging them with 5 minutes or so to go.
the track was a really fun track, and 1 hours is a long time to have to concentrate on your driving. Great Fun if you ask me.

I beleve that could have been a battery change, a wreck, or possibly when he put the dead batterys in there.
looking at the laps it look like he changed his batteries on lap 126, that's when he put the dead batteries in and had to change them again. Lap 221 his batteries died again. Thats when Chad took the lead. They were really close all race. I think within 2-3 laps of each other for the whole hour.
I have the whole race on video..
