I had someone contact me suggesting an open track mode be added to the program. After experimenting a bit I think I can make a "free play" mode that would work like this:
The timer will count up but have no time limit
The start time for each racer is dynamic, the same way as the staggered start races
A racer will be automatically removed out of the free play run after they have not gotten a lap within the timeout period
If a racer that was removed gets back on the track their settings are reset back to 0, including lap counts, best time etc.
No rank announcements or time announcements are made
Personal best lap and overall best lap announcements will be made
Pace will be set to the average lap time
Sorting on the race screen will be based on number of laps followed by shortest time
The results will not be stored to the database
To end free play you have to hit the End Race button
This mode would allow an open track where people can run a few laps see how they did and take their car off. They would be removed from the race screen after they time out, this way you would not hit the maximum racer limit.
Is this a mode other people would find useful?

i love this this! makes tweaking so painless. run a couple minutes to hear your lap times, make some changes and get back on the track to hear your times again.
Ok, this mode is pretty much finished. It should be in the next release which will be out soon. I need to still do some testing with the Kyosho hardware as I changed the data processing for it and still have one bug to figure out with the Kyosho hardware and the edit racers screen before the next release.

Brilliant!!! another donation sent. Keep up your fantastic work.
It is greatly appreciated though it was someone else that brought the initial idea up (I do not think they are on this forum though, someone from Nanotrax).
One minor tweak from my original post. The sorting on the race screen will be based on average lap time.

Qon, the proprietor of nanotrax. it is a nice feather in your cap to have a shop use flipside for racing
I did not realize that, that is pretty cool. I often wonder where all the software is getting used. I had over 200 downloads last month so I know someone is using it beyond the few clubs I have heard from.
He has offered someone to do some graphics work which is exciting for me. All the graphics and layout in the program so far are more just placeholders.
As for the subject of this thread, I think I will have the new release ready tonight or tomorrow. I made changes to the select racers screen that I have to test, as long as the changes work I will compile it and release it. I just have to wait until I get back home to test the changes with the Kyosho lap counter.
