The best charger really depends on your charging needs. The best charger for person A, may not be the best for person B. I use a variety of chargers because some are better for certain purposes but not for others.

For the average club racer running 1-2 classes, I would recommend the Lacrosse BC700, BC900 or Maha Powerex MH-C9000. These will charge the cells individually, so you dont have to worry about discharging the cells and balancing them before charging as a pack.

I use the Duracell 30 min, but it is no longer available. I feel that the charge is less precise, but good enough to charge, and then peak on my LRP Pulsar2. The primary reason that I have the LRP charger, is so that I can use its motor run in function when I need it. I can also peak cells just before hitting the track.

If I have used a pack, for a qualify run and only run 6 min on them (qualify run + warm up), I can then charge them on my LRP without worrying about balancing them since they are probably less than 50% discharged.

The Competition Electronics Turbo 35 is one of the best 4 cell NIMH chargers. Many 1/12 scale racers used them before switching to LiPo. I havent used one, but had good results with its little brother, the Pit Bull. It had limited discharge, at 1A for the pack, which is something that I like about the LRP, you can dump a pack quickly, then put it on an individual cell discharger to balance them before charging.

I use this and I should buy one more:
Have you ever seen me with a slow car?

I can charge 3 packs (in series) with this in a hurry.
I think fresh Batteries are more important than the charger though.

Cant argue with you there. Tom could not stop talking about how much faster his 70 turn car was when he tried your Atomic batteries.

This is very important. I get new cells every 3 months or so... After about 3 months of weekly use, you wont have the punch and speed that new cells have. For faster motors, its not a big deal... but for 70t motors, you need it to be competitive.

They dont have the low end rip that my TSR cells have, but are good on the top end. I only used these cells in Myrtle Beach at the last Cup race. They have consistent capacity numbers (750-850 range out of 6 packs). They also feel a little lighter than other cells in my AWD.

I won every class I entered for 2 weeks at ActionRC ever since I used them; 8 races total in two weeks. Before that I hadn't had a Wednesday win for a long time. Let's see if I will get beat tonight.

I had too much power running ATM Stock motor with these batteries at Action, I had to use a lower charge rate. For 70T they are perfect and the lighter weight definitely helps.

However, I am actually looking forward to LiPo racing. I want to spend more time driving than discharging/matching/carrying many packs of batteries.

A little bit of this and that!!

I have a venom charger for larger scales and a few powerex's for mini z. I like the powerex for mini z because of the individual cell charging and discharging. As I approch my one year aniversery ( January ) I have learned alot about setup and parts. I have 6 packs of Duratrax750, 4-rp900 , 4-atomic800 and 2-R1990 and 2-tscmatched. Im tossed between the tsc and the atomic. 4-packs of atomic and all are pretty consistant. I can comfortably say that the worst batteries I ever had are Orion750sho's. If you breath on them the wrong way they vent! At a retail of 12-14$ I would'nt get these batteries. At bang for buck I think Atomic800 or R1 990 are the best bet. Eugene was nice enough to let me try a few packs of Atomic and I'm hooked. If money is not an object TSC there a little pricey at $20-25 a set but they are matched already. Upon using the breakin mode on my powerex the atomics were pretty consistant without having to match them.

Ok enough already I'm starting to sound all techy like Eugene(no offense)

Charge me up a set to try in my 70 turn tonight

No problem, but why would you run 70T tonight when everyone else is running faster motors?
