i'm not sure hpi actually produces teh xmods but mearly distributes them overseas. i have never seen anything documenting hpi's involvement in the production
if anyone has real info on this please post it.
...CORRECT...HPI merely distributes...Here in Japan Xmods are basically lined up beside the bump'n'go cars at the toy store
A lttle bit more info from atomicmods, the sad thind is the evo is only 25% faster stock then a stock gen 1 xmod.
What's so sad about that, if it's faster stock vs stock it is a good thing. It has better gears I also noted that the AWD kit has the shafts that go to the front. I have seen some stuff floating on th(e) bay.
I would have to say that this one is what the Xmods should have been from the start. The original chassis to me felt like, the person that designed it didn't know the difference between a set of legos or an RC car. This chassis look's alot more like a more solid RC car chassis. You may not be able to put this suspension on a CF plate (yet anyway), but then again what is the purpose of putting a crappy (original Xmods) system on a CF plate anyway. I think this is one case of carbon fibre being a waste of time and money IMHO.
Though I am dedicated to Mini-Z and Iwaver, I could just not pass up the deal RS currently has on the Xmods. They are sending members of there web site a coupon for a starter set + body kit for $35. A savings of $27.98 off of retail.

if this is the orignal xmod, I would say it's not even worth the 35, maybe the new one will be.

Yea, it is for version 1. It is pretty cool for drifting, that is the only way I can get it to go through the corners of the wide RCP decent. I will invest the $6 for the tighter turning radius and see what that does.
I just wanted a beater car to run outside. I have run my Z's on the driveway but would rather keep them for the track instead.
Hopefully, the AWD Mini-Z goes faster than the new Xmod (Speed: 880 fpm (feet per minute) or 10mph). If not, I doubt if I will be purchasing a new AWD Mini-Z even if I can use my own transmitter.
There was a report of the coupon working for The new EVO. I tried it a week ago , didn't work. And 10 minutes ago I tried to direct2U order the Firebird, no luck again.
So im gonna try on the 13th (1 day before the coupon expires) to re-order the EVO.
Or the RS people might have been smart for once and made the release date after the coupon Expires, to make shure NO ONE gets an EVO for $35.

I have seen them listed for sale on ebay but not in RS stores as of yet. RS's site lists the starter set at $59.99. If it is a major improvement over ver. 1, I might have to pass on the K AWD until the price drop for Christmas '06.
