ZRound Setting Questions

can someone explain the various options and setting for detection of first lap and how that relates to starting grid location?

i've had a couple races now where the first car thru the loop doesn't count but those behind the first car do putting whomever got the hot start 1 lap down. there is something obviously wrong with that so want to make sure i correct this.

There are two options related to "Le Mans" start mode. They exist because of feature requests from differents clubs and different scales.

a) Initialize after first finishing line pass: The race clock begins just when the first car is detected. I use to have this option cleared (unchecked) as I want to start the clock just when the horn sounds. In my first club it was the mandatory way of count in mains. Also, it could be used when the lapcounter hardware can't send messages to synchronize the PC clock, the first pass is used to sync the clocks then.

b) Count first detection: It was asked from the slot guys. If the option is checked, the first detection is counted as lap. I think it shouldn't be used with the (a) option and if you do it you will get undesirable results (first racer starts the clock 0L/00:00 and next racers will get their first pass counted). I will disable (b) if (a) is checked no next versión (coming soon)

Regards,

Jesus.

Hey Jezus

We also had alot of confusion about these settings.
Maybe you could add a better description to what it does.

I'll try with examples ...

(a) Initialize on first pass.

* Checked
Race time ***** Event
00:00.000 ***** Race starts - Countdown reachs 0
00:04.513 ***** First car passes -First car is detected
00:00.000 ***** Race clock is initialized. First car pass is reset to 00:00.000 Race starts really here Time from countdown to here doesn't count

00:01.129 ***** Second car passes (He starts the race with 0 laps and a race time of 1.129)
00:05.812 ***** First car sencod pass First lap - 5.812
00:06.379 ***** Second car pass First lap - 5.250

* Unchecked
Race time ***** Event
00:00.000 ***** Race starts - Countdown reachs 0
00:04.513 ***** First car passes -First car is detected
00:05.642 ***** Second car passes
00:10.325 ***** First car sencod pass First lap - 5.812
00:10.892 ***** Second car pass First lap - 5.250

Lap times are the same. The difference is the time from the start (countdown = 0 ) to the first detection. If you want to get that time counted then uncheck the option, otherwise check it.

(b) Count first detection
As I said in the first answer, I think it shouldn't be used when (a) is checked.

The time/lap table will look like this using the (a)-unchecked example

Race time ***** Event
00:00.000 ***** Race starts - Countdown reachs 0
00:04.513 ***** First car passes -First car is detected- LAP COUNTED 4.513
00:05.642 ***** Second car passes - LAP COUNTED 5.642
00:10.325 ***** First car sencod pass Second lap - 5.812
00:10.892 ***** Second car pass Second lap - 5.250

As (b) is checked and the cars have been detected twice, they will have two laps counted. First lap counts the time from the race start.

I hope now the settings be clear.

Jesus.
