Exclamation 2WD Wheelsets...

Ok, after a long string of technical difficulties and general apathy about the whole design at home thing... I am trying to make a slow crawl back into it. I will be revising past files here and there as I go but for now I am going to try to stick with stuff that I want (I'm much happier that way).

So, after looking over all of my busted sets of wheels I've collected over the years, I decided to step into the wheel market. My F1 wheels have held up perfectly so far so I figured to make some 2WD racer wheels.

These are 20mm tall, 11 & 8.5mm wide. Available in half offsets and yes, I did make 3.5 and 4 offsets! Wheel construction is simple and hopefully sturdier than anything else out there. I wanted one-time buy wheels so I wasn't too concerned about weight, more concerned about durability. I've only made them available in white material because I know it's real easy to color these yourselves with a sharpie or a vat of dye.

Hopefully these work out for many of you and hopefully I'll be ordering myself a set this month.

Now... When I fit my bearings into my F1 wheels last year, it was a little tight but with a little simple scratching with an exacto, the fitment was perfect. The bearings will stick out of the holes a bit but I prefer that to having them recessed... less chance for power robbing rub.

There up in my shop now under "Random Goodies". Best of luck and please let me know what you think!

No fine print here, just the facts!
I am in no way, shape or form responsible for production or shipping or manufacturing quality of these products. All I can say is that it took 15 days to show up at my house after I ordered it and the quality is top-notch! Shapeways has an excellent record of part quality which is one of the major reasons I went with them for this stuff.

does shapeways give an estimated material weight? i must admit to being a bit form over function myself and find myself picking something appealing to look at vs. durable

your options are limitless really in that you can model classic/LM small diameter wheels up to the inch up's 21mm, all available in .5mm offsets which is astounding. it's a rare feat given standard production manufacturers don't want to bear the cost of stocking less popular offsets and diameters which reduces availability to only the most common of offsets and diameters.

glad to see your still making progress like the F1 practice bumper as well

Yeah, to be able to roll off designs for these is fun but for the first shot I wanted something tougher than usual. I think shapeways can figure approximate weights but I'd rather wait until I get my first ones because it's hard to compare exact weights when they are all modeled in one shot with connecting lugs.

I'm sure style can prevail but I'm just taking it slow for now, I'm uploading to their site using my phone because the laptop I'm using can't connect anymore... I load the files onto an SD card then drop it into my phone. It took longer to upload and set the files into the site than it did to draw them!

Ordered my first sets today... can't wait!

Just finished Version 2 tonight, a little less "campy" looking but not as sturdy. With this material though... it will flex long before it snaps so maybe if the second design holds up I'll work an ultralight version for the hardcore racers.

Gotta load Ver2 models up yet so it may be an hour or two.
