Micro Helicopter Pictures and Videos!
When I discovered the Kyosho Caliber 150 as discussed here kyosho's 2.4ghz minimum review... I became interested in these very small helicopters and I found the Walkera HM 4#3.
This Walkera HM 4#3 is very cool, slightly smaller with a main rotor that is 180mm as compared to the Caliber 150's 198mm main rotor, it has a fully functional fixed pitch control system similar to what Kyosho will be offering with the Caliber 150.
I just received the Walkera HM 4#3 and I must say I'm very impressed!
The box is very small!
What's included in the box.

Closer shot of the chopper.
Close up of the main rotor control system.
I have quite a few spare parts coming as well, so I hope to be able to learn to fly this with those replacement parts and much patience. It should be fun though!
I'll post more pics and videos as I learn low to fly the little guy in the next day or two.
Walkera just released a new 2.4 GHz version of this helicopter, the HM 4#3B. I found a 4#3B 2.4Ghz Metal Upgrade Edition which has an alloy upgrade for the entire flight control system, extremely cool. I have one of these on the way, I just can't resist.
I hope to have enough experience with these to be able to give a good review of these and be able to give a good comparison with the Caliber 150. I will definitely be purchasing one of those when they are available at the shop here, probably sometime in September.

When I used to work at the local Hobbytown, we had a heli regular who had bought the coaxial version of Walkera's micro heli. It was sweet to see it fly! I'm glad to see they came out with a 2.4 version of them.. I'd love to get my hands on one of them!
I belive BP Hobbies has Walkera parts in stock.

You should hit rcgroups.com and look up user "thesteve" as he has done some amazing mods to the 4#3 helis. His bird is running spektrum (with mods to the receiver to run on 1c lipo), and a brushless main rotor (using the micro-t 1/36 Xcelerin brushless motor).

This is a very cool helicopter! It will take a little time to learn to fly, even with quite a bit of experience with real helicopters while in the service, RC Helis are a whole new ball game, however if you take the time to learn how to fly these, I feel it will be well worth your effort.
I've been working in the office today and have had time during breaks to go thru 5 battery charges, about 45 minutes of flying time, and I've just leaned how to hover.
I created a landing pan on our king sized bed in the master bedroom, which has very a high ceiling and a lot of area for flying, it's not far away as my office is in the house. This is a perfect surface for practice as soft landings are great, just have to remove the landing pad before my wife gets home.
This helicopter is very smooth and quiet while flying which is very nice.
I'll post movies soon.

This has been a lot of fun to learn to fly, it's so small yet flies very realistically, it will take some flight time to master, however, the investment in flight training will be well worth the effort in the long run.
Weight of the Walkera 4#3 without battery pack.
Weight of the Walkera 4#3 with battery pack.
This helicopter is very durable and has taken some very hard impacts with no damage, just make a few adjustments and you're back in the air. Unfortunately I'm going to have to suspend my flight training. I was getting a bit bold and was flying rather high and just nicked a wall fairly high up, about 12 feet. The heli then slid down the wall, tail down. It came to rest with it's tail wedged between the top of a chest of drawers and the wall snapping the tail boom , which appears to be carbon fiber.
Kind of a fluke the way it hit. I have replacements on the way but I'm grounded for a few days until they get here.
Nothing like a broken tail boom.
The tail boom is definitely carbon fiber, very strong but when it fails, it's history. Poor heli looks so pathetic broken, waiting for a new tail boom.

I'm looking to pick one of these up, I was wondering if you had a preference for how the plastic version or the metal version flies? I hear they're a bit different so I thought I'd ask. Seems theres a $10 difference in price, but metal is not always a good thing in RC :P
