I'll remember to check with you before posting next time, thanks.

The fact that Z-Round is free is the only reason to deal with its shortcomings.

I dont think it shows alot of respect for someone putting his free time into something for us FREE of charge. Not like golddigers charging 600$ (if I can believe the post above) for a piece of software.

Judging by your comment I can also see that you actually never used Zround. So reframe from stupid comments like that to plz. Thank YOU.

Actually I have used it, and rcscoringpro is the standard for all other rc racing besides mini-z, I have used that as well and yes it IS $600 better if you're running a business with racing, if you're just a club or some friends with a track, etc its not necessary. I don't have an AMB to connect zround too or else I'd help Maj troubleshoot, if you want to argue $$, then I think AMB has that argument covered.

Just for the record, I own a shop that races both Mini-Z and dNaNo. We use the Zround software and love it. Support is top notch. Every issue is analyzed and patches issued quickly.

My experience is not limited to just small cars, I used to run 1/10 and 1/5 scale so I know about other timing programs too.

Kudos to Jesus and his program!

I have personally communicated with Jesus on different occasions and his support is top notch.... The software that he has designed is not limited by any means and he adds additional functionally every couple of months. People just have to take their time to learn the software... We have been using Zround without any major issues for some time now. The fact the he has added support for AMB is a pretty big accomplishment coming from a one person operation. AMB has their own proprietary protocol for communications which he must pay some royalties for. Keep up the good work Jesus…
Maj,
1. What version of the software do you have installed? I believe 1.9 build 8 is the latest. But I’m not 100% sure.
2. Did you install the software on a new computer or are you using the same one that is currently used for MiniZ? If so, the initial setup asks you what type of timing system you want to setup. I don't know if you can change systems after the initial install within the software. I would suggest that you install the software from scratch on a different PC
3. You also might have to do a firmware upgrade on the AMB system itself…( not 100% sure )
Jesus,
Can you comment on the issue at hand? Thanks..

Hi there,

First, thanks to Led, Sinister_Y and egonzalez for supporting ZRound.

MikeL, I can't understand why you are trying to discredit my effort to give a good and free software to all of the miniz community . I think answers like use RCScoringPro instead of ZRound are inappropiate. On the other hand I must say it has a lot of features comparables with expensive commercial packages. If you have questinons about usign ZRound, feature request, bug report, etc. even better, if you can help people to use and configure ZRound this is your thread. Someone loves ZRound, someone hates it, and a lot of people/clubs/bussines are using it due its amazing, useful and powerful features in spite of your opinion. Please, don't post if you are not going to help with the subject beyond "use other software" solution.

Anyway this is not a post about how good or bad software ZRound is but how to use AMB with ZRound. As Edel says, AMB has strong restrictions about publising its propietary protocol (in defence of their legitimate interests, of course) included an exclusive and non-compete agreement I don't want to sign for the meantime. I must say I don't own an AMB decoder nor a compatible system so I can't test neither . Therefore all the development is based on googling and the help of people who owns a decoder.

Ruf993, please try it with the last ZRound Suite release. I know there are some clubes using ZRound with AMB and this release with success. If you still have errors I can send you a debug version to capture detailted information in order to solve the issue. If you have choosen other software, please let me know to close this thread. Thank you for trying ZRound.

Kind regards,

Jesus.

PS: I'm sorry for the off-topic.

I have the new release that was on RCkenon site....

I love Zround for MiniZ and have lots great results with it. If I can make it work for the AMB that would be great..

Just heads up the AMB still connect via serial port (Com1) not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Zround has no issues detecting the amb hardware but as soon as the first car pass and picks it up I get the errs. After closing the err tabs, zround dose not detect the cars anymore. Need to restart the software to get it to work again for that one time.

Thanks again for all your help...

Thumbs up All FIX!!

Thanks again Jesus,

After all the that it was the serial port that the AMB uses that the Zround did not like...

An Serial to USB adapter did the fix!!!

Now I can be at ease using the Zround for my out door racing...

I will be putting it to the test this comming sunday, I'm having a charity race this weekend and will be running two types of racing all in one day.

MINIZ inside and Off-Road 1/16-1/18 out side. 2 laptops running Zround all at once...

Comming this fall the 3rd track will be using Zround for sure!
