What about the Mini Z v2.0 Turbo Motor Upgrade

i found the Mini Z v2.0 Turbo Motor Upgrade for 5 buck is it worth the $
or not
whats the difference between this and stacked fets?

is it hard to install?
and will it burn stock motor or mainboard ?

I'm not a big fan of externals... but I do know they can make some power. If it's a fet replacement external, it's better to just go with stacks. I installed some Spiders in the past and it's a pain... and I wasn't too pleased with the end power level. The old school GPM externals wired to the batteries, motor pads and motor... not too much of a hassle there for a quick and easy boost, but they had not nearly the amount of power as a 2x2 of 4562s.

the external turbo's are pretty old school... i've had a couple back in the day... worked pretty fine on mro1 (the first generation mini-z's) they're pretty easy to install... they were used to by pass the original board... but make sure you wire it correctly...

if i remember it right, there were some problems running turbo's with mr02's....

hope somebody can chime in here to confirm...

with the advent of new fets and fet stacking... i believe it would be less of a hassle getting a professional fet job done than experimenting with an external turbo...

if you get into the latest offering of kyosho... 2.4ghz in their mini-z's now, they offer much better electronics than they did when they first started...

hope this helps... and good luck

the v2 will fit in place of the stock fets(they do have to be removed)
its just a little bigger than the v3/v4 and slightly smaller than a nelly so it will fit on the topdeck nicely.
check if its been fitted to anything else first though,if the 4 signal wires have been shortened you may have to renew them to fit it.

i have had both the v3 and nelly on an 02 with exellent results,v2 is the same as a 4x4 stack of 3010

ahhh ok,its just a power cap.
there has been alot of hype in the past with these,i believe they help with power spikes on xmod boards but not so much on mini z

Talking caps. Do the caps improve smoothness when crawling, is this what's meant by the smoothness? If the capacitors give crawling smoothness it would be worth to solder them onto an overlander, doesnt it? Or are stock caps enough?
thx,
Robin

Hi blt. Thx.
I'm looking for smoothness at low (crawling) speeds, not especially high torque. In stock set-up, the motors are jerky at these low speeds. Do you think different or better caps help?
