I think the older version had 3 too. They did a good job at making the charging tray idiot proof

I've been looking to get a discharger for my Mini-Z batteries.. This PN one looks fantastic with a lot of nice features.. Plus this one comes with orange anodizing which is one of my favorite colors... I'll be picking this one up soon for sure... Looks like another high-quality product from PN.....

I saw these a few days ago @ PN. Looks very professional and quality seems to be top notch. You can lock them together as well...

Yea, those look pretty cool. The fast guys are using ICE or the Checkpoint TC1030 chargers. I like my MH-9000, but I may just have to upgrade to a TC1030. If (when ) I do I think thease trays are the ticket.

What is the special thing about these trays or any battery tray? I noticed racers using chargers that charge single cells for awhile now (like the Maha, Lacrosse..etc). However, recently I've notice many racers starting to pull out thier charging trays. Beside using a seperate charger of your choice what are the advantages of using a tray over a charger that charges every cell seperately?

And since this is brought up again, I have a question too. How does the discharger do individual cells at 1A, when you cant put in an individual cell?

THe PN Discharger does discharge at 1 amp per cell. If you were to put 1 cell into the tray and monitor its voltage it will deplete at a 1 amp rate. L-E-D's need more then 1 volt to operate thats why u need 2 cells to see a L-E-D illuminate.

but a fully charged aaa is 1.5-1.4 volts. does this mean it takes more than 2 volts to discharge? and if this is the case the leds would not be a true sign that the batts have completely discharged.

U have to remember that there is a constant load on the batteries though. AS soon as the cell is in place that 1.5 vt goes down due to the load applied.

Ok nice information. But what about the Orange and Black Charging tray, does it charge individual cells once its plugged into a power supply and charger? or does it charge all 4 cell like most charging trays do?

The charge tray charges the cells as a pack in series.

Philip,
this is the Mac Daddy of Dischargers
http://www.muchmoreusa.com/dischargers/mmrp1020.html
guys using higher amperage dischargers (above and Novak Smart Tray)
can train there cells to perform and match them based on discharge performance. Group charging matched cells will ensure all cells are similiarly charged. So each cell will give max performance....
Most of the time when you see a racers batteries dump it is not the whole pack just one weak cell.....

Hi bermbuster - You mentioned the MuchMore CTX D2 Platinum Discharger. Can this be used with AAA cells? I see that the design uses adjustable-screw-length individual battery slots, I just don't know if the screws can be adjusted far enough for AAA's.
I also own one of the PN discharge trays this thread is initially about. I iike to use it after my cells are depleted at least 50%, or I will use my Cell Master charger to discharge my cells @3.0Amps w/0.9v cutoff and then I'll finish discharging them on the PN Discharge Tray. The PN tray is definitely good for equalizing cells, I recommend it very much.
