Audi R8 LMS GT3 Blancpain GT Series Asia Suzuka 2017 KCMG

Having completed this one, if I should ever do so again, would be to make request the decals be printed at 1:27.5 or 1:28 as the graphics at 1:27 are too large. I had to do some creative subtraction to get them to fit, hopefully no one notices.

The nice thing with this decal set is there are detail views thru the rear diffuser that were gorgeous and incorporated them where ever I was able to cut them in. No one is going to see it except for pictures but i had to do it.
I also shaved the front lip to a nice rounded profile and carved a good chunk of the outside corner of the body crease to the back of the front wheel openings so that i can keep +2 offsets up front.

Audi R8 LMS GT3 Blancpain GT Series Asia Suzuka 2017 KCMG

Materials:
Tamiya clear yellow
Tamiya clear smoke
Krylon red pepper
Krylon satin black
Pattosplace AudR8LMSGT3-SparkPlugs-2017-24 vinyl decals at 1:27 with background colors removed.
Start to finish, four days.

That car is very well done arch!

I have done a few slot car liveries in 1:32 and 1:64 myself and had to improvise at times.

I'm thinking about getting a couple white Mini Z ASC's myself.

Again, well done......that car is tight!

Really nice work! Are you using airbrushed Future for clear coat? Are those water slide or vinyl sticker decals?

I just paint on Future. I typically use the vinyl decals. Its much easier to work with and more forgiving than waterslide.

Great Job on paint job!

Wow! i am new to this sport, but you gave me inspiration to paint my own body. I have the Audi 2015 ALM that just came out, and although I like the paint job, it seems a little dull to me. No I will get my paints out, and go to town. Great Job, once again.

cool... thanks for the info... i didn't know that patto made clear stick vinyl decals... i'm guessing it would indeed be a challenge if you got waterslide decals...

another question regarding the body.... did you have to relocate the body mounts to give it a "lower" look in the rear?

the audi autoscales have a hideous rear tire / fender clearance that i really wish kyosho could fix...

I didn't do anything particular on my autoscale other than making sure the clips were as high as they would go without cutting anything.

The clear vinyl is rather flexible and can be worked into creases when applying it, work it flat and push it where you need it to go as your laying it down. With precise and sharp relief cuts, you can get it to do just about anything. I've torn too many waterslide decals in my time so I try to stick with the clear vinyl despite the added thickness of the material. If you absolutely have to, you can peel it back off vs. one shot deal for waterslides.

Looks really good! Cool graphics, I have a Blancpain series Mclaren that I am working on, just can't seem to find the time. You are much better at busting those out! Do you find you get brush marks with future, or does it level?

It levels out nicely. I brush it on liberally.

Does the future melt the vinyl or waterslide decals? How does it compare to tamiya clear?

nope, no interaction with tamiya, krylon, duplicolor paints or waterslide, vinyl decals which is why I use it. I'm frightened to death of spending a weekend on a paint job only to have it wrinkle or orange peel with a clear coat. I've don't it a couple times already...

Hey, just wondering, what are you using to get amber/yellow headlight lenses? I have some old Humbrol transparent enamel, but it's kind of a pain with really long drying time.
