I will just say this as my experience, not an endorsement or recommendation:
I've been running a 50 Turn PN motor in a first gen Sport (your second link, I think) for months, and it hasn't burned up on me. Keep in mind, I'm aware I'm running a hot motor, so I'm especially careful about throttle when stuck on a wall, and I run an 8T pinion.
I believe that both ESC portions of the electronics are more or less equal. The sports however have an issue with static, which will essentially kill the PCB. In the beginning ofthe issue popping up, users may have correlated the issue with motors hotter than 70t.
The FET are capable of running a 50-48t motor geared appropriately. Basically the same motors used in the AM days of mini-z. "Pro stock" motors.
If given an option, pick up the newer RWD. There is better steering resolution as well as no reported static issues.

The FHS sports line is discontinued, I would recommend going with FHSS RWD for reasons EMU pointed out, it's an evolutionary improvement in the sports lineup.
Another option is to pick up a second hand FHS sports cheap and simply swap the board out with anything better or within your price range. There are plenty of choices. If you want to buy and race and no real difference in cost between what is available, go with the newer model electronics.
