it doesnt really matter wwhat the car looks like.its what its got in the inside. lets say a lamborghini diablo with only porsche 311 engine in it racing a 2005 mustang with a cobra jet engine in it. people would think the lamborghini would beat the stang because of the looks of the lamborghini diablo and looks more aerodynamic than the mustang. so it doesnt really matter about the body of a car. its the parts in the inside.

aerodynamics do play a major role...

anyway, the monaro/GTO is rear wheel drive, isnt it?! i would cry if they put the GTO name on a FF car

It's a shame when the power of a car dictates the popularity of it's looks but it happens often, and vice versa.
I can't stand it.
Each trait should be judged on it's own merits.
That is what a true enthusiast does.
I'm not preaching because the line dividing the two gets pretty blurry for me at times too.

Personally, I think the Mustang concept renderings look nice. It has an updated look with alot of historical style references to the original car. Although not as noticable, the last two body styles were developed on this premise also. The pics of the actual new Mustang are sad. I mean the car has a really sad expression.

I also think that slapping GTO tags on the Monaro just for the American market is a huge insult. Do they think we're idiots. Sure it might perform well but it has no styling cues from the original GTOs.
So why call it that? Sales Sales Sales.
And if does become popular because of it's performance, the looks of the car will suddenly become more attractive.
I won't give in to such crap.

Just my opinion. To each his own.
