Carolina's Cup - Race 4

Just got home. Great event. Rodney showed that he has been working hard on all three classes since the last cup race.

I would like to thank everyone that contributed into making this a great race series. I had a great time at every race. And every race had a different feeling, especially as I got to know more people and their driving/setup styles.

Missing practice Friday night showed early, and I feel that I did well considering the early setbacks. I had good setups, but could have dialed the car in a little better with some more track time. F1 I got a dud motor, swapped it out for a better one, but I still lacked a lot of low end power in every gear ratio that I tried. I ended up trying to push the car too hard to keep my speed up and not get into the lower revs where the motor had no power. Ideally I needed to try a gear ratio that was inbetween the two that I tried. 9/46 48p, and 52/11 64p.

My LM car was not driven since the last Cup race, although I had taken the wheels/tires off and used them on a different car. The car came back to form pretty quickly, so it was pretty easy for me just to fine tune it with tires.

My stock GT car is still a work in progress. It is my first dedicated 70t GT car (that is not a narrow car). The F40 body worked well, and has similar handling characteristics to I am used to for 70t with the f355 body. I could have definitely used some new rear tires going into the mains. I added some vinyl over the rear window to cover the slits. I was trying to get a little more rear grip, and am not sure if it hurt instead of helping. I learned a good deal in developing the F40 body, and plan to use that for future projects.

Congrats to Rodney and MBMZR for the season wins.

I am going to try to pull and get a team together for the first race of next season. Possibly the first race of the season could be the best opportunity to add another team to the cup. Where is the first race going to be? It will be a difficult task... but I will not stop my efforts.

I will have a little more commentary when I get to a pc, but I wanted to say I had a great time! The racing was intense, and I managed some good runs in the mains despite some shortcomings in the very close qualifiers. I was a little stressed at times, but I really enjoyed the back to back races with the bumps, and those are four races that I wont forget!

In the words of mister Pick himself, it was exactly what racing at High Speed is all about, fast racing and good times with great friends!

I hope every one made it home safe! And a big thanks goes out to every one who made it happen!

This just keeps getting better and better. I think that the two groups have learned a great deal about each other this season. As Landon said before this is not really two groups but divisions of the same larger group working to better the scale through good hard competition, comraderie and just an overall good time.

Congratulations to all that competed in the series in 2010. We were all winners.

See everybody at round 1 in 2011.

First I would like to thank James & Vicky and the young lady that works for them for all their efforts and for them letting us put them out, I am sure they would rather be doing something else on a Saturday night. A big congrats to Rodney for winning the individual trophy, you deserve the credit. As for as us elders, it was fun running with Mike and Don again, I was very down in my mind at the end of qualifiers, but had a blast in the mains. even if it was the C main and not the A main, we had just as much fun, Don & Mike you are quite the gentlemen and bring a lot to our sport, just remember OLD GUYS RULE. I look forward to seeing you at the next race.
Thanks to everyone for particapating in all the CCC races.

I have been called a lot of things in my life but seldom a gentleman. Maybe we should start to break Don in for the Tech crew to lighten our load. I really like to Marshal but it truly hurts too much when I make the quick dive.

I want to thank Gary, Saint, Matt, and Gary Jr. for taking the time and making the effort to travel to this event and welcome them as emmisaries for their group in joining the quest for next years Carolina's Cup. With their addition we will be up to a six race schedule and even a higher level of competition. Although some weren't in attendance this trip we will find that this group has some pretty big guns and can more than handle themselves in competition. Everybody start tuning right now for the season to come.

Andy. Check your email and advise. I couldn't find the tattoo's.

What amazes me is that Landon can remember all those details. The whole thing was a blur to me. Don't remember where I finished, which mains I was in, how many laps I ran, who I raced with (except for the one with Chad). Guess I'm getting old...

I used to remember races in such detail, but after racing many events (traveling and home) in the last year, its hard to keep track of all of the small things. I just know that Landon and I went at it at 3 events this year... in a few different classes, and had a good battle at MHS in Pan last year.

I think I need to be reminded by the video before I really comment on all the details But I know I had quite a few unforced errors... F1 was my race to lose off the start... I had a good start, but got caught on that left sweeper after the timer a few times. I never could really get that section the way that I want. Either I turned too early, or too late (which happened more and I put myself into the boards). I dont know if it was a glitch, but it seemed to be every car, so I doubt it was. Left turns are a little more difficult for me than rights...

Only reason I remember it is because of how hard my heart was beating and knees were shaking. It was pretty intense. Would like to see the video too to see how close you came to getting by me. I know I got in front from the buzzer and led most of the race, but not sure if anyone got by me during the race. Next year I my volunteer for the tech stand with the "older gents".
