hi folks... just wondering if anybody has tried this...did a search and found a couple of threads, none that were satisfactory...
was able to get hold of an awd board, and am planning to do this myself...
anyway, would you have to change (i.e. wiring, servo motor - or pot) to get the awd board into the mr02?
the switch wasn't installed, can anybody post a picture of an actual awd board that shows where the wires go? and probably post a pictures of the changes needed (if any) for the board to fit in the mr02...
I would suggest to follow and reverse the steps on AD band conversion on the MA10 thread... sorry I couldn't get back with you on this as I don't know how to either ... I had to pay someone to get mine done...
I have installed a few MR02 AD band board onto my AWD in the past, and IIRC, simply just reverse solder the steering motor wires (so unsolder the neg and pos wires of the motor and solder them back on in reverse). And that basically is all you must do to make it work.
Wires length wise, AWD calls for longer wires than the MR02(especially on the on/off switch part), and I usually replace all the wires with longer and better ones before installation(in an AWD). Anyway, in your case, it probably will have excess of wires if you want to reinstall it back onto MR02, so this should not be a problem. If you find too many wires are having no where to go, feel free to trim a little accordingly.
No need to touch the pot. In fact, I remembered there was a great article written by someone on the AWD board about installing AD band onto AWD (was it by Sciencemike?), and basically all you have to do is reserve that process.
I'd suggest just reverse solder the steering motor wires, and see what happens. Good luck!
I just did the same to my AWD board as I bought a 2.4Ghz conversion kit.
I put my ancient AWD board into an mr02 i-séries chassis.
What you'll need to do is:
-Reverse the servo motor connexion,
-Get more long potentiometer wires (the stocks are a bit just)
-Clear up a little hole in the side of the chassis upper side (from the grey part) to make some room for the antenna and interruptor wires.
This is the easiest way to do, if you plan to replace some wires you could just take a langer antenna wire (or make it pass on the other side of the chassis) and a longer interruptor wires and make them pass on the other side of the board as there is much room there!
