title corrected. This will be our last race at the Fairfax store. Please come out and share some fun with the gang and share appreciation for the staff that have worked with us for so long to establish a great place to have fun for many years.
Yes, Hobby Works will be closing their Fairfax, Bel Air and Rockville locations by the end of the month. realistically, expect the doors to close by the 3rd week.
we are working to identify a new location to host the club. In the mean time i encourage all to participate in racing at Remnant's Clinton MD location. it's less than half way around the beltway from fairfax, just past the wilson bridge.
if you have any recommendations for appropriate locations, please email the name, address and if possible, point of contact.
Having spoken with Bruce last night, Hobby Works staff have accelerated the close out activities thus canceled out last race date. We will pick up racing on the 13th as usual at Remnant.
as noted, Washington DC GTG racing will maintain it's current schedule however location will be Remnant race track. Remnant will share their facility with us for the duration of our transition from Hobby Works Fairfax location to Hobby Works Laurel location. Hobby Works is in the planing stages to open an additional location in Laurel MD and has asked us to continue our partnership at the new location. The estimated completion date for this space is later summer so we have some time to bridge the gap.
We will maintain our current schedule. We will maintain our current race classes. for HFAY, this simply means we will not be racing HFAY tracks for Season 25 however we will continue with HFAY rules. For this period of time, we will run clockwise only and the 2nd race of the day will substitute 86-90mm class race.
As with racing at Hobby Works, racing on the 2nd and 4th saturday's will be free. If you would like to race additional dates with Remnant (they race multiple days a week), please speak with Gary/Fisherman regarding club dues. you can find more information on Remnant schedule and racing on their forum section linked to earlier.
So for the Jan 13th event is it HFAY & 90mm or stock/mod? Before the move to remnant it changed to stock mod but sounds like it might be back to HFAY with the change of venue. Just want to make sure I come with the right cars. See you Saturday.
i can understand the confusion. News was being shared before details could be worked out so it was fluid there for awhile. we've discussed and formalized plans moving forward as most current posts indicate. HFAY dates will now be HFAY clockwise (not on HFAY track) and 86-90mm clockwise.
Please note, due to temperature and humidity differences, track conditions will require tuning adjustments. this is true any time you change track locations. Just chat with the Remnant guys and we'll see if there is a preferred tire combo that requires a restock available to everyone.
Again, can't thank the Remnant group enough for taking us in, in our time of need. Mike especially for his tireless work on home improvements to the garage.
We started a bit late, my apologies. We will get this back on schedule now that we have a good idea of what tire combinations are. Kyosho 20/30 combination works well.
We started with HFAY class for the day and had fun bumping up from C to A Main I believe I can speak for all in stating all like the smooth pace of the track layout and had a very good time.
We wrapped up the day with 86-90mm class and true to form, this was very enjoyable. While I did not do my best, Kris took his Rocket Bunny MX-5 and walk down people. it's a box stock MR-03 chassis with red front springs, CF T Plate, PN ball diff and PN 50T motor and walked all over just about everyone. It was very enjoyable to watch
I do not yet have my video gear setup so I do not have video to upload however some video was taken and will try to get this up to share.
I was glad to see everyone have fun on Sat. We still have some upgrades planned. Also working to try and stock some tires and other normally used parts.
