You don't need the oil damper up top. In fact I wouldn't recommend it.

by which one you wouldnt recommend it? by mm or rm? and another question, i see always a small bottle of oil in the pictures of the products, where do i use it then?

and at this link in the picture you see the system with the rear damper:

it is the car of pchan0 and as you see, he has the rear damper installed.
i am confused...

I wouldn't use it for either. The friction damper does the same thing. I think the top oil shock further reinforces it but on a flat track I don't feel it matters. The Friction damper works in all directions.

The small bottle of oil is for in between the top and bottom plates. It only takes a dab and can be used how ever works best for you.

This is my setup:

This is the same chassis but orange mcl(no wing):

I really haven't seen a bad h-plate but the atomic ssg series works best for me. There are many different setups but I run a med. to soft h-plate with a friction damper set.

here's my 2 cents:

everyone who's fast or at least decently fast at the track I go to, Toronto Mini-Z, uses both the atomic damper plate system AND the oil shock. The oil shock helps with droop setting for the rear motor pod.

P.S. We're running on carpet.

Speaking of dampers- do you have to run these when you use an alloy MM motor mount?

I've got 2 PN MM motor mounts, and the stock suspension arm does not fit them.

At this point I'm not running any top suspension, but I'm curious what you're "supposed" to use with the alloy MM mounts.

Thanks!

The damper kit comes with everything you need. You don't have to run a disc damper with the pn mm mount. In fact the arm that is used to connect the top damper does seem kind of short which in tun pulls the motor mount up. That connecting point on the motor mount is height adjustable. It's good and bad I guess. I like to run a motor mount that sits high which makes the wheels fit in the wheel wells nicely. If I use a spacer and run a top shock it rubs the body and sometimes catches. I don't use the shock because of that.

I dont use a rear spring damper with my disc dampers. I have seen people use the oil shocks without the spring, and may get one to try. My buddy uses a stock shock with a soft spring on one of my cars with the PN ML damper and ML motormount.
