here's to all the people that are new to the mini-z.... when running the X-speed or any high performance motor, NEVER hold the motor to prevent movement while gunning the throttle.... This can fry (or light sizzle) your ESC....... I jsut did that a couple minutes ago and there was a really strong smell of frying.... although my range or performance was not affected, it is still pretty risky....
well, that's it... my ESC is fried.... so maybe i'm the first guy to fry my esc with the X-speed.... now i gotta invest in another one along with a turbo....
The strange thing is it's not my antenna that's fried, it's the motor FET... my range is fine and my steering is fine... i just can't seem to move.... i can see the burnt marks on the FET.... frying sucks
Holding the motor so it can not spin, puts it at MAX load, and any ESC will only survive that way, long enough to let go of the throttle... say 2 seconds, larger ESC have like a 10 second time, RC aircraft have about 10 seconds worth of peak loading as well... your not realy supose to do that.
Also your not the first, I know some one that told me a very similar story just before you posted this , only a minute or so before.
What you gona do with that ESC now? usualy this type of damage just spreads to the rest of the board.. but I am trying to collect as many as I can to "play" with, and maybe eventualy find out what the exact amps are that fry it and get a few working to resell to pay off the buy up fee , wich is usualy just postage since in most cases its garbage .
well, i might try and fix it up... there's a store here that offers the repairs.... and i might get the invisible turbo they offer..... if i can't fix it, then i can send it to you for your experiments
anyways... thanx for the extra tips... now i know what not to do....
