When i turn on my car and the controller is not on the car goes nuts.... turns both directions accelerates goes in reverse... then i turn on controller and it stops and acts normal. anyone else have a similar experience?

yeah it's normal. It's recommended to turn on the control first then the car.
Yes, as byebye said this is completely normal. The reciever in the car is hunting for a signal is picking up static in the air, when it gets the signal from the transmitter it stops.
I found that if I let the car continue to sputter for long amounts of time on the MR-01 that is actually damaged the car and cause more twitching... don't know the cause of that, just something that I noticed. So, I suggest that you do not turn the car on first.
