Those are pretty nice. I just wonder if they are Losi exclusive?

I have a set here to review. They are made by Losi and sold exclusively through Horizon Hobby and their respective dealers. They are made to fit the RCP Track black tracks as well as the off road tracks.

Do they fit the Mini96 or the big tracks?

They were designed for and are an exact fit to the 50cm rails, big tracks.

Although they were made for the 50cm rails, you can still use them for the Mini-96. I will post pictures of the covers used on the 50cm and 30cm track rails.

There are two uses for the rail cover.

#1 - To protect the rail from damage when cars and trucks impact them. Over time the rails get beat up, especially the tracks used daily or weekly. With the rail cover, you will never have to replace a rail from damage.

#2 - Helps to allow the car to glance off the rail as opposed to hitting it and stopping the car. If cars hit the rail cover at an angle, they will usually glance off and allow the car to maintain its speed. The rail cover is made from very soft plastic and also helps to protect the body of the mini-z, by giving a little when cars impact. It also appears to be non-marring and won't scuff the plastic mini-z bodies.

Ok I can understand the reasening for it, but I still think its useless.
At my club the RCP track is 3 years old. We are bascicly a low skill club. Wich means we have guys hitting every corner of the track. Ok true the side rails are damaged, but none of them need to be replaced, yet.
Glancing of the rail, well I dont have that problem at all (murcielago) so I cant speak for that.

Maybe it simply makes the corners more visible to.

Better visibility goes a long way. I've been using white corner dots with red striping for a while now. It really makes the corners stand out to some one like me who can't see very good. I drive way cleaner on my track than anywhere else, mainly because of the better visibility.

BTW, Ill either be trying to mimic these, or buy some, as I think they will make a nice addition to the track, even if they only end up being aesthetic additions. They will go well with my current curbing and rail liners.
