Epic indeed, you set the bar pretty high, never before has someone so slow hacked so much...

It was a great day though, the track looked so simple yet was tough to get just right. Mod cars didn't have a huge advantage.

It was a great day thanks to everyone that came out. My budget built cart for the 50cm track made transporting and storing much easier in my shed. The new more technical track layout, Ryan and i came up with made for some great on track battles. I never drove a Mod car all day. I had the most fun running my Abarth 90mm Kyosho brushed high motor chassis car all day. Other than a carbon T plate, oil shock, Kyosho stock ball diff and bearings it is the cheapest and most stock car i own. Derek if you want, i would be up for starting a 90mm racing class in Langley. I have purchased Five sets of Turnigy handout batteries to keep this a budget oriented class. Let me know if there's any interest. Personally i am not interested in any other racing classes. I can book my clubhouse for Sunday, April 23rd if we want it. I forgot to mention it was nice to be graced, by the legend Trackmate Dan.

I'm in but my 90mm isn't as spec as yours so I hope to have one built soon.

In the meantime I'm in for the 23rd.

I'm in for the 90mm class too. After seeing Grant's Abarth on the weekend though I'd say we're all in for a heck of a challenge.

23rd is good for me, see you all there!

I will be at the Vancouver Sun Run on April 23rd so I will not be able to make that date.

Does the 90mm class have to be highmount? If so, we best start talking about which one's people prefer & where to get um! =)

Are we enforcing the HM standard for this class? Or can 90mm be any mounting type? I bought like 2 of the 90mm MM motorpods is why I ask.

Currently my Stock chassis is my 90mm MM & I like it that way it is. So if we are looking to enforce HM, I may just have to get myself a new stock chassis. =)

I asked this at the last Langley session but didn't get a firm answer. I plan on building one to conform as I think the idea is to have parity.

90mm narrow f/r
hm mount
stock fets
stock motor
handout batteries (from grant)

I am almost certain that was the extent of Grants wishes for racing this class...I think it'll be a challenge (beyond my ability atm) to be competitive but I relish the opportunity to have equal cars on track.

I think Derek mostly nailed it with his rules - I would add that the stock motor should be a Kyosho stock - no PN stuff that is way faster. The only other question is it any "high body" or Abarth only?

if i recall, there are only 5 HM bodies to choose from, VW, Vitz, Fit, Cooper and 500.

Three of us already have the Abarth - so it's not too much of a stretch to make an Abarth class - the downside is they probably aren't easy to find anymore for others who want to join.

4 of us...Dave H has one as well.

I think since Abarths are scarce I'd agree to any body that is narrow f/r that can fit an HM pod.

btw my bad on not clarifying....I did mean kyosho stock motor.

They are hard to find and expensive. Un-assembled Abarth 500 bodies are still somewhat easy to find and affordable.

Actually, most HM bodies are not too common.

By the way, the minimum wheelbase for the MM2 motor pod is 94 mm. It will not support the 90 mm wheelbase. There are a handful of aluminum HM motor pods out there, like this one from Eagle Racing (sorry about the image size):

I'd be down for a HM class!

My proposed rules for a 90mm high motor mount Abarth racing class. This is based on my current car i run.
Kyosho Mro3 non Sp chassis stock fets.. If you have an Sp chassis that's fine. Everything on my car is plastic all steel screws.
Kyosho stock ball diff/ stock steel shaft.
Kyosho carbon T plate.
Kyosho black springs.
Kyosho oil shock.
Kyosho ball bearings.
Kyosho 6 tooth pinion gear.
Kyosho plastic high motor mount.
Kyosho stock brushed motor.
Kyosho aluminum wheel nuts.
Kyosho Abarth body with stock rims, tires, narrow front and rears Kyosho 30's. Mine show little wear after 4 years of running.

Spec tire to race on. Kyosho Mini Z MZW2-30 High Grip Tire (30)
Everyone to use a Kyosho 6 tooth pinion gear.
Handout batteries Turnigy 900mAh aaa's. (I only have five sets at this time.)
I would like everyone to run an Abarth body.

Optional parts.
No aluminum Kyosho or other after market parts. Lets make this the cheapest racing class ever.
Any Kyosho front spring set you want.
Any Kyosho plastic rim set f/r narrow width, no spacing track width.

Racing rules:
Three 7 minute qualifying heats. A single 15 minute main reverse grid. The fastest drivers start in last position on the grid. Everything open for discussion Let me know what you think. After talking with Ryan earlier i will book my clubhouse for our next GTG Sunday, April 23rd.

Funny how the pic of the Eagle Racing motor pod shows the rear end tweaked out of shape.

Is anyone going to fault me for semi wide 30s on the car since that's all I have for 30s atm? Other than that I think I can reproduce grants spec exactly (parts may not make it in time for this gtg)
