YES, YES, YES,. FINALLY........ A NICE SIZE WITH BANKS EVEN SLOT CAR RACE TRACK IN A BIG SLOT CAR RACING PLACE.
I did talk to the owner and the major manager and THEY is WIDE open to Micro RS4/ MINI-Z racing....Open arms is he. MAJOR RAISED TRACK...IN FACT 2 OF THEM!!!!!! I have thought about slot car racing tracks for racing Micro's/ Mini-z many many times. So I thought "why not ask the guys if they are open to it" The "higher ups" just happen to be there....smiles were drawn when I proposed the scenario of racing RC on those slot tracks. Yes, the SLOTS are in the slot tracks but the micro is big enough that that likely will make little difference in the preformance.
I Have talked about laying a temporary "overlay" over the track IF something like grooving may make a difference in the driving. The slot car tracks are very well made. Profesinoally made with BANKS and a bridge. In fact 2 race tracks are in the same big building. It is worth it to drive a number of miles to race there................RACE DAY??? GLAD YOU ASKED!!!!
APRIL 22...7 PM (MONDAY) "TENATIVELY"
......yep, some taking was had by me and the higher ups. Turns out that they were talking to a few that bought Mini-z's (mostly the Formulas F-1) The smaller TIRE width of the stock mini-z's had small trouble "grooving" the slots in the slot track a little, but it was not a huge bother. The owner suggests foam tires. I think there is a place where you can get foam tires. The softest compound would be best but since 4wd is in application it should not be a huge problem.
MONDAY..........APRIL 22nd...San Jose and surrounding area: this could be a wonderful regular race location and nice effort was made to work in cooperation with the slot people. Many poeple who has the slot cars have mini-z but we won't talk much about that stuff. The track can be actually seen at this web address. www.slotcar.netwww.slotcar.netwww.slotcar.net
Details will be worked out....I will try to answer questions....fellas EMAIL ME Wanna race?????
Kev71H@aol.com I will try to answer questions in about a week or so. I have to fly to OHIO. Won't be back until 10 days from now or so. Sorry. email me with your email address and I will send you info when I get it. Thanks
Email me if you wanna race....you should love the track! Kev71H@aol.com
I will be talking to the track owner and manager up until race day.
The track used a thin "slot" and the mini-z F1s do not have any trouble with getting in them...but the mini-z thin tire may have a small irritation with it...im not sure...I have not saw a mini-z run on it yet. As for the F-1 it is confirmed that the groovs are thin enough and the tires are WIDE enough for the car not to hvae problems with it. the BANKED turns are cool eh? LOOKING TO FIND OUT ABOUT FOAM TIRES FOR MICRO'S AND MINI-Z'S anyone know of any information??? do email...thanks!
What I meant was, how is the surface, not that the slots will get in people's way? It looks kind of hard and tractionless, so I wondered how cars that don't have magnets will handle on it?
Is this the slot car place on Branham? If so, that's right down the street from my house.
Have you actually tried running an F1 car on this track? I'm just wondering if it'll work ok since the F1's (well, mine anyway) have less than 1/8" of ground clearance under the front bumper. Those banked turns could be a problem if they're too tight. I'd sure be interested in giving it a try, though.
Just let me know if you want to try some trial runs - my cars are all decked out with foamies and stuff, but I'll definitely need to upgrade the motor for those long straights...
If it works out, we've got a couple other racers who work in Redwood City and have an indoor track there who'd probably be interested in making the drive.

.........Well you can click on the link to see where the location is on the track..(see above) Go to that slot car link (their site) and click on the more information/track link...there it has even a map on how to get there...I am very new to San Jose so I could not tell you where it is in proximity from where you are...sorry. And yes, it worth a try.
P.S. The owner said that some guys at the slot track DO HACE mini-z F1s and they play on the track all the time. (mostly when the slot car guys are not around much) he said its a blast. Keep in touch and
