The SP is the 2WD and the X4 if the 4WD...I have both and I suggest that you do the same. They both kick ass.

hks117:
how is the suspension on the x4?
from info i've seen, it only has a two point suspension,
ie: a single damper up front and a single one at back......
the sp has indpendent front right?
noticed any difference in handling?
on asphalt in particular?

Well I ran it for the first night tonight.Honestly there is no suspension. It relies on the flexibility of the chassis. But if you run on a smooth surface it's great.Plus the foam tires can take most of the vibration from running on asphalt.

The SP does have independent front suspension but there is no real difference.

In terms of fitting the electronics. The SP can take a micro servo and standard size reciever. As for the X4 you have even less room to work with due to the drive shaft running right down the middle.

The X4 does handle much better than the SP but needs to replace the bushings with bearings to lessen the drag.I need to play around with it a little bit to fit electrics and get the drag off the driveshaft.I am considering selling my SP but haven't decided yet.

how is the speed of the stock dtm x4 compared to the mini-z?
do you have any motor upgrades installed?
wondering if the tamiya black motor would increase the speed
to 20+ at least

The "black" motor (Plasma Dash) isn't the fastest one by tamiya for the mini 4wd.....

I believe that the Black motor that BBC5 is referring to is the 180 sized motor, originally for the Tamtechs.

if this is the case, bbc5, I'd go for the HPI 180 sized motor. That's good enough for the ABC.
