Kyo MA Ball Diff

Got a set from pinoy and I personally have mixed feelings(though ultimately in a good way). I know everyone here swears by these due to the best build and ability to hold settings forever, so I just want to ask a few questions and post a few comments I have.

First off, what extra upgrades can these diffs take? Can they use other manufacturer gears, thrust bearings(and whats the deal with these exactly)?

I do hate that you have to adjust these internally. Is lack of easier way to adjust what allows these diffs to hold their settings so long? I've noticed that every other manufacturer's design was nothing like kyosho.

It has good thrust bearings already, and has a bearing for the spur... so you dont need any 'upgrades' there. As far as changing the spur, I dont know why you would want to... they already have the best spur on the market. You should be able to use the Atomic TAR spur, but without the center bearing, so it would really be a downgrade. The center bearing keeps the spur from moving as much, giving better mesh.

The only real upgrade for these diffs is the Reflex delrin outdrives, which work very well, but you need to take your time installing them, and try not to lose/strip the tiny screws.

Don't know why I used 1 shim per side originally, but after removing them the car runs much quieter and smoother than the 3R diffs. I guess time and track will tell how these are further.

I usually have to shim a little more on the spur side of the diff in the rear. Usually dont have to do anything to the front. Every setup is different... so go by what it sounds like, and how much roll the car has without the motor in (or you can just remove the motor pinion).
