kyosho not sold in hobbytown usa???
Tim, was wondering if you know why
kyosho usa site still say in the locator section= Arizona, that hobbytown usa
is a retailer for kyosho products???
here's what i have found first hand at the following retailers
here in arizona
hobbytown usa in scottsdale,az. and gilbert, az. don't sell kyosho
hobbybench in prescott,az."can order ya kyosho, but it will cost extra"
and here's the best PR nightmare, can't believe it myself= viper hobbies
in mesa, owner himself, stated,"i don't consider mini-z a real r/c and we don't sell kyosho" i responded with " well that's kyosho mini inferno sitting on
your shelf" = new in box, he replied, "well i still don't even consider that a
r/c car"
WHAT, well you can imagine i'm not going to viperhobbies in mesa,az ever again.
sorry about these retailers here, but can someone at kyosho usa update
the retail locator for arizona
and for sure remove viperhobbies, mesa,az. from the locator. please please
now i know there are plenty of web resources to purchase kyosho
product from=most noteablly the shop here, but Tim, i am a look, touch,
and smell kind of guy when making curtian purchases
thanks Tim, i know this is not your fault

man, i would have given that one guy an earful. I would have asked him does he have it that good that he chooses ONLY to sell (make money) from "real" rc cars? What an ass, i mean, if you are going to purchase the car from him, why would he even care to offer his opinion on the legitimacy of the damn thing. It's fun for me to talk to people like that...get them to the point where they really are speechless..
at any rate...
not to jack a thread directed at Kyosho, but sometimes you have to make compromises. i think your best bet is to forgo trying to patronize any of these local stores and simply buy online...
Unfortunately, Kyosho "had to do what it had to do" in terms of it's relations with certain nat'l WD's so this is the situation we are left with
I can relate because in NJ, we have one shop that i know of in the entire state that sells MZR stuff (stocks it and/or knows about it). Thankfully, that one store is an incredible source for all that is Mini-Z, but it's 2.5 hours away from me, so i mail order, or...i of course order from the site shop ; )
if you want to talk to him, he's very reasonable and ships. I order from him almost weekly.

when Kyosho set up its base in Cali, they dropped Great Planes/Tower Hobbies from their distributor list, therefore most if not all Hobbytown USA lost their supply of Kyosho products. Few are just recently getting their supply of Kyosho products back. The Hobbytown in Hixon TN lost their Kyosho for a long time, they started stocking the newly US distributed Iwavers by means of Great Planes. After many returns and complaints they have dropped the Iwavers and once again set up the Kyosho account and started distributing Mini-Zs again. unfortunately they do not carry much any more, and their prices are rediculous.

I'm gonna jack here a bit as well...
I started my club at a Hobbytown, they hardly sold anything as far as Zs go... but once I set up there every Sunday, they really started moving off the shelves. I saw newbies watch us race, let them drive a loaner, they'd run up to the counter and grab not just the cars, but usually a few hops too ! It was amazing how people were willing to pay the H-town markup to satisfy their "I NEED IT NOW" mindset (scary thing was... those guys usually didn't stick around too long, blow all that dough, then race it once or twice ?!?!)
When they stopped carrying Kyosho, it was tough to convince the owner that we should be at some of his events, I would've shown once a month to recruit racers but with Iwaver quality oozing off the shelves (tad of sarcasm here ), it seemed pointless to promote a product at a store that couldn't stock it.
So... if we are privy to the Kyosho plan of action here in the States... what is it ? Look forward to your response Tim !
PS. I'd like to take that LHS guy and stick him in one of our Mains, and watch him choke on his own words when he ends up 20 laps down ! It's all skill here in 1/28th land, not equipment !

John,
I hope your job interview went better than the trip looking for Mini-Z stuff here in Phoenix.
I have never seen any Mini-Z parts in a hobbyshop here, except ReadySets. And ony a few of those here and there.. It is the reason that I started stocking the parts for our racers.
Sadly, it isn't a real r/c car to some retailers unless they can make huge profits, and sell them to every other person that enters the store.. It isn't like selling a T-Maxx where the buyer drops 400$ for the kit, then comes back every week for another aluminum part until it stops breaking..
I have been doing some for of R/C for the past 24 years. From Spec Bolink Legends to Modified 6cell pancar to Nitro Sedans to 1/8 Nitro Buggy to 1/4 Scale Oval, etc..
I HAVE NEVER ENJOYED MY R/C AS MUCH AS I DO MINI-Zs.. At a tiny fraction of the cost of what I have spent to do other forms of racing.

TIM HAVE YOU SEEN THIS THREAD? above
HOOD, yes interview went well, got job=HVAC/R service tech. start
thurs
btw, that jacka$$ at viperhobbies, mesa,az was being ultra short with me,
as you guessed it a lady was behind me and ready get junior his 1st. r/c
a T-MAXX FOR XMAS. he will break a a-arm in bout 1hr of drive time
I too own other scales of r/c, but the realism of a mini-z compared
to gas/electric stadium trucks with huge susp. arms sticking
way out the body!!please. IMO,
MINI-Z's take more driving skill than flopping around poorly tuned big monster
btw,my rc10gt,is tuned perfect=and collecting dust since '05 when i got my
first mini-z

Yeah, I have seen this thread.
I'm really straped here. The info you have posted is very helpfull....I will see what i can do for AZ. AZ does not seem to be very popular for mini-z's, so it will be rough.

Pull all of your mini-z buddies in AZ together, and goto
HobbyTown USA
8664 E. Shea Blvd
Scottsdale Az
480-348-7825
ask for Eric,
he currently does not have mini-z's in stock, but people coming to his location asking about Kyosho should speed things up with him
Hobby Action
705 East Guadalupe Rd
Tempe AZ
480-829-1226
Ask for Craig. He currently has Kyosho Parts in stock. does not have mini-z parts. When talking with Craig, he was very receptive to the idea of carrying mini-z's. I would say bring your MINI-Z club to this hobbyshop. Ask to set up your clubs track at his shop. This guy was very receptive.

I will do what i can from this end.
Hobby Shops won't carry anything, unless people are asking for it.
I hope everything will work out in the end.

Yea, I noticed that same problem here in Colorado's Hobby Towns. The only Kyosho products they sell are airplanes because airplanes seem to be more popular in my neck of the woods than cars.
But now we in Colorado Springs have a really good hobby shop that specialize in cars as well as airplanes, helicopters, and boats. In fact, their really starting up their Kyosho Mini-Z collection and are trying to get GPM and other 3rd party hop-ups for us Z-fans.
I still order my stuff on line mostly because I can find things easier on line than trying to have the owner of the store order it. But if he does get more and more Mini-Z stuff in stock, I'll go to him.
I don't go to Hobby Town at all unless I'm looking for plastic model kits and model building supplies. Plus, I noticed that the Hobby Town people here are mostly Know-it-all's that don't know anything. Not all of theme, but most of theme. They only sell the product and don't have personal experience with the item that they are selling. This is in no way intended to offend those Hobby Town workers that actually do know what their talking about cause I know there are some.
Anyway, just wish Hobby Towns carried Kyosho Z's as well. Nuff said.

heh- I stopped by the Hobby Town USA in Kennewick, WA last weekend and asked if they carry Kyosho mini- z parts. They didn't know what it was, so I told them it was a 1/28 scale RC car from Kyosho and they told me to try Radio Shack
They did tell me they can order anything from Kyosho though- unfortunately I was already convinced that they wouldn't be getting my business.

Yea, Hobby Town I think is only good for plastic model kits. Don't go there for RC.

same here. They carried the Iwavers for a while, but dropped them after they had all but one returned as non-functional.
