Changing Suspension?

I recently purchased a secondhand Mini Z Overland that had a Pajero body mounted, and a damaged BMW X SUV body included. I wanted to change it, just to get practice. I tried to remove the c-Clip holding on the rear suspension arm mount and it wouldn't come loose. There was some very light oxidation on the rear suspension rod, probably from storage.

How do I get the suspension mount loose as to change it.

The instructions say I need a "Plastic pencil point". What would that be, a mechanical pencil or pen tip?

Here's the parts I'm trying to change. I can easily put the new shock towers on, but the pin that holds the black plastic rear suspension arm on won't come out.

Rear Suspension arm pin. As you can see, there is light surface rust on the pin, as if the car was stored in a humid or moist environment. It functions just fine, however. If I manage to get the pin out, should I just replace it with a new one?

Anyway I tried again, this time sharpening the end of a small flat blade screwdriver for use as a chisel to cut through the plastic c-clip. The clip came off without cutting through it though, and now I have the pin out, and ready to change. I sanded off all the rust I could see off the rear pin, hopefully, this will not happen again!
