Proud of this but not...

Finished painting a McLaren MP4-12C GT3. Was going to use it until I realized how much time I put into it. Into the spare ASC case it goes.

On a side note I really wish Kyosho would produce some of the current liveried race cars like they used to. I missed out on those. I'm sure some of you would really like to see a resurgence of this type of body.

There are more bodies in painted in an album I just created. This one is by far my favorite of the four I've painted.

That looks really good. Nice work! I am working on a 12C right now as well. I am always disappointed with how fast the paint gets chipped, but I enjoy racing them all the same. I have thought about trying different paints but don't want to spray too much ultra toxic stuff in my basement. I have a small spray booth that vents, but still. . . Where did you get the decals? Are they from Patto's or somewhere else?

If you look under the Autoscale page in this forum you will find a very similar discussion about the lack of race livery or new race cars in autoscales from a couple months back. It seems we missed the golden age of Kyosho making lots of great race cars.

I don't particularly fret over cars getting dinged in use. It's part of the charm of racing highly detailed autoscales vs. generic lexan or lexan with the usual pan style flair paintjob. I don't think I've ever painted something and not run it (if i still own it).

That being said, it looks fantastic. The glory days of lesser expensive licensing has past us by. With the loss of Ferrari as well, I expect things to be much leaner before or if they ever do expand in a noticeable way. Instead, look for more repaints and re-releases. Jump on what you want and if your looking for variety, go buy stickers/decals and looks to make it yourself.

On a side note, I've been looking for decal sheets. As well as gearing up for a monthly purchase of Ferrari ASC bodies. Between them and the old McLarens... I've got quite a stack of ASC bodies happening. They are lots of fun to collect.

I don't think lost is the correct word. More like decided to no longer pay the ransom.

I've seen them all. I'll be ordering from them from now on. Especially considering price of some of these water slide sets.
