NiMH Batteries

Are these any good for the mini z? If they are what brand is best? Im also planning to use the Rayovac 1 hour charger which I hear is great.

Also what about the run time with the recharchable NiMHs?

Thanks to anyone who responds

NiMH are pretty much the best, except perhaps for short runs where NiCad would offer an advantage with slightly more punch. And the Rayovac PS4 is great.

Keep your eye open for the 750 mah ones... crusader4x has them in Oregon, but they don't seem to have them here in Hawaii.... at least on this island....

I got the 750 Mah Gold Peak (GP) brand batteries from ebay for about $0.80 each, they last pretty long on a mostly stock car, more than an hour. also, the Rayovac PS4 is the best... it charges my 750 Mah AAA batteries in less than half an hour, and my 1800 Mah AA in about 45. You can probably use regular Alkalines in the controller, i accidently left my controller on over night, and drained my first set, but those lasted over a month without losing almost any charge. Oh ya, someone told me that the 800 Mah AAA's are supposed to be coming out soon. keep your eye out for those too... might be lucky to snag a set.

Yeah, I ran my buddy Crash Rehven 's Nimh and they do make my car run a bit faster than my stupid alkaline batteries. It's sometime really painful to watch my car suffer to get going on those batteries. I will likely get some NIMH of my own. NIMH powers last throughout the run, the speed does not decrease like the alkalines.

I swear by these batteries.... Once you start you never go back to alks (unless you forget to charge the NiMHs)... THe Alks that I get (sponsored from work) are good for temporary Mini-z runs but lack the tong term power and get visibly slower by the minute.

the best part about NiMHs is that you don't help increase the landfill!

Do you need to discharge NiMH batts before you charge them?

NiMh

Strider-,

NiMh batteries do not have a memory effect.

They don't have to be discharged like the NiCAD batteries do.
NiMh batteries do not have a 'memory effect' like NiCAD's do.

I use Energizer 700mAh's in my Mini-Z's and boy do they make a difference.
I recommend them as the premium battery for the Mini-Z.

PS4 Charger

Who makes the PS4 and is it the 1 hour charger? If so, they had it at Wal-Mart and Target for $30.00.

My bad. I forgot to take into account that I live in EXPENSIVE Hawaii. You're probably right about the price of $30.00 in the mainland. Rayovac makes it.

I paid $39.95 for mine, it was from sears. I haven't really seen it around any where else. I've seen them going for about the same price online.
