What Amperage can I charge batts?

Hey all, I have an intellipeak pulse charger...it charges nimh 4-8 cells. I can vary the voltage..what voltage should I charge my batteries?

It ranges from .5 up to 3.0 for NiMH batts.

Can I use this charger?

I have a heavy-duty 4 cel battery holder that NML gave me...it does get hot! Without it I would have melted the battery holder allready!

Thanks,

Pianoman

I use the same charger and charge at .75-.8 amp for NiMh's. At this rate they do get quite warm, hard to hold onto for more than a couple seconds. But I have yet to fry energizer/rayovac/pn/nexel bats'.

I will repeak at .8-.9 before a race, as I usually charge the night before in order to have all the packs ready. It usually only takes a few minutes to peak them out and they don't usually get hot.

Pretty sweet little charger and power supply combo. Bought it for AAA's and for my 1/10 NiMh packs.

from full discharge to full charge, 50-70 minutes depending on the bats residual and condition

Hope you don't fry them. I used to charge that high but I thought the battery temp was just way too hot. Good Luck!

Hey Guys,
NiMh charge rate is recomended to be a max of 2C (two X battery capacity). I have an MRC Super Brain 959 and I charge my 750Mah @ 1.5 Amps. I set the Peak cut-off at 15 mil volt. Charge time is about 45 to 50 min and the batteries are just warm. I think the key is to not overpeak them. RCCA mag did an article on battery care a few months back and it had some good info. Also ck Blind's web site. blindbatts.com
