My steering servo motor has locked up several times. I am able to fix it but it requires dis-assembling the servo case and physically twisting the pinion. Easy fix but what a pain to re-assemble. Has anybody ever had the steering servo motor apart? Does the shop offer a steering servo motor without the circuit board? I must have a piece of dirt or something inside the motor. I took it apart 5 times today
You actually had to twist the servo motor pinion gear? or just the gear cluster inside the servo case?
If it's just the gears in the case I would check for a broken tooth on one of the gears, sometimes the broken tooth will jam between the teeth of another gear and cause the servo to jam up
Never had a servo motor go bad?!?!?!

If it's something in the motor itself you may have to open it up to clean it out. The pinion on the shaft will have to come off (no easy task) to get the armature out. Or just remove the back plate and careful with the brushes and wash it out with motor spray. I haven't had to open my servo motor to clean it, but I have had a servo jam up on me before because of a tiny piece of plastic in the gears. A clear chassis or front box is good to look around and see if something is in your gears. Of course the clear ones are also known to break off small bits as well. The MR01 white case is good at dropping small bits into the gears from the screws above.

Let us know if you get it working - if not, we can swap a new one in for you - thanks!
Yes, I have to physically turn the steering servo motor pinion and it takes a decent amount of force, however I ran thru 5 sets of batteries today without a problem. All the teeth in the 3 servo gears are intact. Will continue to run it, if it happens again i'll probly have to replace the servo motor because i am wearing out the screw holes on the servo case. Too bad its a chrome servo case.
