Albert's math is right on , and even with no timing system issues or other delays, it shows that there is just not enough time to get our current level of drivers through two 4 minute heats and an 8 minute main in two different classes and get done much before 10:00. Growing pains is right, but its better to have growing pains than a shrinking thingy
Unless we can have two identical tracks running simultaneously, the only ways we can get done earlier on Thursdays is to run fewer races, run shorter races, have less time between races or run few classes. Unfortunately most of these options mean less track time for everyone . I for one feel like I don't get enough track time as it is, so I'm not in favor any of these options. Another option would be to start ealier , but this might not be possible for some .
I'm hoping Saturday racing might reduce the number of racers on Thursdays which would help some, but only time will tell. In the mean time, I think I'm going to start comming down on Tuesday nights for testing and tuning and to help reduce some of the congestion on Thursday nights.
p.s. James, who did that fake HSH website for you so fast? Never mind, it must have been one of your government buddies at the NSA. Had be going for a minute

Marwan, just for grinns and giggles. Do the math on running 1 five minute qualifier and 1 ten minute main given the numbers Albert used to calculate the current elapsed time of the evening.
Essentially this would give us 1 minute less of racing per class than we are currently getting. However it would significantly reduce the down time between heats.
This is just an idea . Just curious to see if this would be a viable solution to getting out earlier.
I can live with the championship sort. I can live with getting out late. Either way I will continue to race. Not sure I can live with out racing .
Marwan made another good suggestion, starting a bit earlier. Would suck for me but might be good for the group.
Albert also had a good suggestion. Shortening up the qualifiers, and breaks between.
Did I mention what a great job Josh and Albert did on Thursday!

Wow I new an extra day of racing would make people faster.
Rodney with 49 laps I am pretty sure that is record for this lay out.
Conner with 46 laps I am pretty sure that is a best for him as well.
Looks like Shelby is about to make forty laps any day now.
It appears the kids are getting faster too.
I am really going to have to start practicing just to keep up.
Hope you all had a good time. See you all soon!

The 3hrs and 20mins would become 2hrs and 48min i think. That means if we start at 6:30 the earliest we would get done is 9:18.

So if we started at 6. Packed up and out of there at 9 would be do able. Or 6:30-9:30.
Essentially we would only be sacrificing 1 minute of racing per class. Currently we have regularly only been running 1 heat in our second class anyway.
Either way I don't really care, I am just bored.
10 minute mains are a true test of the nerves. A lot can happen in the last 2 minutes of a race.

I dont mind cutting time in between races or even cutting quals to 3 min. But if we start cutting complete races. Like we did last thursday and the price still goes up, than I will have to rethink my hobby time. I understand things happen. That is in any thing you do. I will go along with reduced time between races and 2 heat races at 3min. and mains at 9min. We have to invorce the 2 min between races. If you are not on the line at that time than you are left out. There are to many people pushing past this mark. Race director calls no more laps and line up--YOU LINE UP!!! The corner marshalls did good the first have thursday than it dropped off. This is something that will also keep things going smoothly. We should not have to keep calling for corner marshalls. You race - you corner marshall. {UNLESS YOU HAVE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS} Sorry did not mean for this to be a gripe letter. I love RC. and enjoy racing with everyone. We have a great group of racers from novice to what I would call Pro. I thank everyone for all the support that is given to me. Even the new comers.

I don't think we need to change current heat or main times, but i do agree with 2min between rounds. Drivers must be ready to go. I know we are at 3min check in time now, but unfortunately that 3min doesn't start for a min to 2mins. I was keeping track this past Thursday. I know it takes a min or so to get the previous heat saved and moved to the next heat. If we then go into a 2min check in period and go racing at the end of that 2mins we will be in good shape. With Josh and Albert tag teaming the race directors responsibilities I don't think this will be a problem. I know if their both in the same race it gonna to add additional time, but that should be minor. But again drivers must be ready to go and turn marshals in place. With our time constraints unfortunately if a racer has an issue and is not ready he will have to wait till the next round. Sorry that's just the way it will have to be.
Now for our more pressing issue. Random sorts and Sportsman class and racers. I believe we are split just about down the middle. I know we have a group of sportsman that are committed to running in there own sort and class. Who has the right to tell the others or new racers they have to start off with that group. For example; Say we get a new racer who hasn't ran Mini Z but has other RC experience. Your going to require them to start with the sportsman. And lets look at some of our mid level racers, still learning but turning good laps. Your going to force them to run a lower class just because there in the way or haven't learned proper race equity yet. This is a great opportunity for us to take a minuet and respectfully stop and give pointers that will help rather than criticize and hurt feelings. How are they to ever get any better, just watching the A qualifiers and mains. The only way anyone gets to the Pro level is by racing and taking knocks from the pros. I'm not above running laps with these guys. It's just one round of qualifying, then there is a resort. These mid level and sportsman racers spend just as much on there stuff and there kids stuff as us "A Mainers" do. I know it's tough, but in the end it makes all of us better racers.
I know the current HSH rules show a min lap count to get to the pro class. Well we don't have just a pro class any more and we've grown past that. And besides just as I posted in my earlier post, any time majority or for that matter a few racers request a change we have a vote. If you guys insist, we can have a vote on the minimum lap rule. I do want to let everyone here know if we were to go by the 45 laps rule this past week we would only have 4 of 20 drivers eligible for the "Pro Class" next week. If we drop that lap count to 40 laps only 9 racers.
Oh, and another thing to think about. If we don't run the system in Championship mode, we have to manual enter racers for each race and then do manual sort after each round or the qualifiers. This means more time in between rounds. There is no other way we know of to sort in championship mode. Going back to the old way also puts more work nightly on the race directors. If need be this can be another matter we need to look into voting on.
Give me some input,
Wade

Well we have fulltimers and partimers we change things all the time and partimers should not be able to over rule fulltimers I would not think I think things should remain the way they are with the championship race we should have two races on Thursday due to the fact of the rates going up and keep two heats and a main just my thoughts
