This is the price for white plastic. Polished plastic would cost even more but they don't offer it since the Mini-z shells are too big to polish.
Shapeways is the cheapest by far so we are stuck with it for the moment.

Fovea, check out the Gemballa Mig-U1 car. That would make for a sick Mini-Z and Dnano body!

Back on topic, I am blown away at what Fovea has made for me. I can not wait to see what else he comes up with!

i don't think the quality is there yet for printing chassis. at least for anything other than prototyping purposes. the materials, surface definition limitations, etc. make it unsuitable for cost effective printing of fine tuned chassis in my opinion. look at the tricks shapeways is doing to get material weights up which translates to higher min. cost to end user. the technology just isn't there yet for that, within the average joe's price point. i have some very fine detailed, very smooth and solid plastics 3d printed models we have done for clients but these cost several hundred dollars and they are just larger than a lunch box. last one was $700 and mostly just a shell of a corridor!

Well, he has made some chassis parts for my Honda Insight model. I'll let you know what I think of those when I use them.
But parts is one thing, I'm sure an entire chassis would be much more work.

I'll let you think about what I'm working on lol...
Shapeways is doing a pretty good job with the cost/product ratio, if Alain can get a body out for $40 then a small chassis tub can be done for about 2/3 that price, given that it uses only about half the material and has a smaller footprint than the bodyshell as well. I agree the surface definition of their cost effective materials is nonstandard, but I think it's just a matter of integrating the new material into a sexier design in order to make a real product and not just a prototype.
