2001 Peugeot 206 WRC

Here's my replica of Marcus Gronholm's 2001 Peugeot 206 WRC. The decals are from a 1/24 scale Tamiya model, #24236. I picked the sheets up from Borgfeldt Canada, Tamiya's local distributor, for $15 CAD.

The wheels are Kyosho wides with a set of "show tires" bearing the Michelin decals.

There are several coats of clear enamel over the shell to protect the decals, but I have (and probably will never) race this body.

206's Front Wheels

dmc,

Nice job there man..

Drac, the front wheel arches and bulky inner headlight moulds has always presented a bit of a challenge for 206WRC Bodyshell owners.
There are workarounds though..

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, there's no way wides would work in the front without serious modification to the shell. (IIRC, even semi-wides require grinding down the headlight moulds on the inside.) It's purely a show body for now because I have plenty of other okay-looking shells to wreck up at the track. Actually, in those photos, the body is mounted on the dummy Auto Scale chassis.

I've actually been looking for a set of white five-spoke rims (kinda look like RAYS TE-37) in wides to complete the look. The decals come with a bunch of OZ Racing stickers for the spokes...

I have wides all round on that shell, but then I have done some serious grinding and removed the headlights for now.

I have 5 spokes too. I picked them cos they were the closest thing to the real OZ wheels.

dmc... that's really cool... it even looks better than mine (i've made a version in yellow)... the quality of the pic is really good too...

http://mini-zracer.com/forums/attach...=&postid=23073

here's the thread of how i did it...
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showth...&threadid=2880

the shot was taken at the track i frequent
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/attach...=&postid=27712

here's the thread about the track...
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showth...&threadid=3379

the rims are 5 spoke which approximate the real one, the come from the altezza body, which i painted white. luckily the oz decals fit

and i made one with the 1999 wrc spec
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showth...=&threadid=971

i didn't have the original body colors available at the time... so i just did them in yellow...

i'm kind of apprehensive running them on the track now...

once again nice work!!! i'd love to see your next project.... submit your work to this site, i'm sure he'd love to include it on his site...

Thanks, Herman. I was actually inspired to do this body when I saw your 1999 Peugeot 206 WRC on this forum. Borgfeldt Canada, the Canadian Tamiya distributor, is just a few blocks down from my house and they were very accomodating in getting me the decal sheets. They also photocopied the instruction sheet for me.

I'm planning on putting together another one for track use.

And yeah, I'm a freelance photog based in Toronto. The above photos were shot with a Nikon D1 on a simple white seamless, using two strobes and a reflector. It was already set up for some product photography I've been doing so it was only natural to also grab a picture of my 206.

I don't know what project is next on the horizon. Maybe more WRC cars...
