Herman.....I am glad you activated this thread, this is the first time that I have seen it.
I have been racing mini z's about 7 or 8 years with my son Landon.
I am 62 and he will be 34 next month.
Mini Z racing has brought our ages and us closer together.
It has mostly been a blast.

@ daddy rabbit, indeed it certainly has been a blast… if you've read some of my exploits (h.k., japan, singapore, & u.s.a.), i've been to places and met people i certainly wouldn't have, if not for mini-z…
do you still race? i just turned to the age where they reward you with some fancy contraption you kinda wear in front of your eyes so you can see minute details that you couldn't seem to see or notice before…
love what you and landon are doing with the track and all… would love to drop by if i had the chance

It's official, I've been racing these cars for more than a quarter of my life. I'm about to roll over four decades on the ol' Edometer and I don't think I see myself stopping this hobby anytime soon.
Besides... this is the perfect scale for a retirement home activity room! If we all pool our money together now, maybe we could get our own Mini-Z devoted retirement home! We could spend our last days racing constantly with each other... the Golden years GTG!

Not seen this thread before
I'm 38 years old but still playing.
I have basically been into Mini-Z since the beginning.
I bought my first MR-01 late 1999, and have kept on since then.
The Autoscales released the first years were all tried and driven to pieces. Some of them are still lying in a shelf at the track
We made our own lap counter with laser pointers and tape on the antennas in different heights.
We had a track that we made of large mdf plates with a mounting system so it all clicked together. Almost as RCP 6 X 4 meters in total. Grip was found with window soap. Soaked the tires until they swelled up, and then we had grip for quite a long time.
Every single option part were bought, modded until they worked, and run until something new came out. Chin Ngai was very popular back then (GPM)
Same with bodies. We quickly understood that the bodies had a large effect on the handling, so every single body we came across were bought and tested in the early days.
I still have all my MR-01's but they are not used anymore.
Our club are still active, but most of the people from back then have grown up and dont play much anymore (only me ). We now have drivers from ages 10 and up to 50-something.
Sorry for the long ramble, but things started to come back when i was typing

Herman....All the people we have met along the way have been fantastic.
I do still race and I enjoy it all as much as the younger crowd.
Like I tell the young guns, they practice a day they get a day better,
I practice a day I just get a day older.
I will continue to race as long as Landon does. He inspires me.
Landon has done a lot for mini z racing in the southeast and continues to do so.
Come see us when you are in the good ole US of A, we would love to race with you.
