Happy Anniversary to the Kyosho Mini-Z

Saw a post on social media that mentioned today marks the 20th Anniversary of the Mini-Z.

Well done Kyosho for keeping micro scale active!

I hope they blast out of the gates with some great new bodies for racing....that'd be a great anniversary present.

I was hoping that too, but the video showing the results of their survey reported that like 90% of the responses came from Japan, and the most requested car was the new Supra, and then a bunch of ho-hum japanese coupes and sedans. The only car in the top results that seemed interesting was the Mercedes AMG GTR.

I hope to be surprised, but the results weren't encouraging.

I concur. The results however are reflective of participation and lets face it, everywhere outside the JDM failed to participate in any great number. We have no one to blame but ourselves for the stellar lack of participation which directly impacts what we will get starting next spring.

I am very hopeful for the Merc as it’s a beautiful car and prolific in racing but the rest are kinda meh... You either love or hate the new Supra and I fall in the latter. Utter waste of plastic in my opinion but wouldn’t mind seeing the older version. Do we really need another Levin? The 5 people in the world are happy for the possible return of the stratos, the rest of the world is scratching their head wondering why? I get there going to try to punch the FWD platform and fill out some slots with FWD cars, which I’m all for but really wanted to see more EU/NA market choices. When the rest of the world only makes up 20% of votes, it’s hard to see that coming to fruition.

I do however thank Kyosho for even taking the time to partially subtitle the video. It’s a nod to us to even get that much whereas we seldom, if ever did in the past.

Again, we only have ourselves to blame for the lack of support for EU/NA nominations. If you didn’t bother voting, well, no point in complaining either. Kind of silly to complain about results if one didn’t even bother to participate.

I nominated the Bentley Continental GT for a nice GB change of pace.

I should add that my suggestions of Ferrari 512M, Porsche 917K, and 1969 Ford GT-40 were acknowledged in the video.

The Ferrari 512M, only by visible hand-written post-it note. Which, by the way, seems like an insane way to tabulate results, given they had a laptop right there.

Yeah, post-it’s is not the most time efficient manner to evaluate the results but it makes for better video content for sure than watching someone export to excel or some database. I’m sure it’s more for the theatrics which I’m fine with as it’s nice to see the work expressed in a tangible manner. I saw my nomination on post-it as well . That in itself is a comfort of sorts that your voice counts and matters. Unfortunately, not enough of us in EU/NA seemed to have participated. It didn’t help that they only now seem to be subtitling and translating to English. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to see that as it acknowledges a fan base outside the JDM whereas in the past, I don’t feel like we were of any real consequence or importance, as has been acknowledged in past interviews.

If someone has an export of the list, I’d Love to get that posted here.
