Has anyone replaced the servo with a standard one?

I have a little project that I'm working on and want to use an Overland as the base. However, I will be using standard radio gear, as well as a standard ESC (Novak Spy). I've been out of the loop for a while, but I seem to remember that the stock servo doesn't have a built-in control board. Is this true? If so, has anyone replace the stock servo with a standard one (micro-sized with built-in control board)? Would it be possible?

I think you mean the micro-controller in the ordinary servo?

It's included on the PCB on all Mini-Z cars as the ESC are too. So you need steering servo, RX and ESC for your project.

Yes, I know I will need all of the electronics. I had planned to replace them anyway. I suppose I should clarify my question. Has anyone put a standard servo into an Overland (the Overland ONLY, stock electronics or otherwise)? Is it possible to physically fit it in the front pod? Did you modify the stock steering linkage or did you fabricate a new one?

Now I'm with you!

Don't think it's done yet. One way to use a standard servo would be to only change the servo motor and wire it out to the chassi where you put the servo-controller instead of the PCB. Had seen some smaller servos, not micro ones, that have servomotors in the same size as the mini-z servo. And if you are doing a new main chassi or rebuild the standard one, you will have plenty of space for the Rx, ESC and battery.

Yeah, I think I can make a standard micro servo fit. I know it'll be a lot taller, but I don't plan on using a stock body anyway. This thing is going to be a beast. You'll just have to wait and see, heh.
