In Hong Kong, many Mini-Z players do "operation" on the PCB of Mini-Z by doubling /tripling the FET "the chip 3004 on the PCB". There are 4 FET 3004 on the PCB for FD, BK, LT and RT. We will double / triple the FET 3004 near the motor output connection, instead of installing the twins turbo. Why? It is because it make the Mini-Z run with linear acceleration and higher top speed. It is much better than twins turbo which only give u a crazy beginning torque but no improvement on the top speed.
Some body also remove the original FET 3004 and then replaced by another FET like FET 3006 or even FET made by different manufacturer.
Has anyone installed an actual servo on their mini Z over there in Hong Kong? As far as the extra fets, I believe it. I saw a big difference when I changed the internal circuitry. now I can use any motor I want. Even a 10th scale motor, if it will fit.
can anyone explain how this works
i don't see how putting 2 FETs will give a higher speed because the output voltage level will still be the same compared to using an external turbo which will be able to give an output voltage level close to what 4 batteries can give. However I believe that torque will increase
It is because the original ESC will burn if a high current demanding motor like Tamiya Plasma, Jet Dash, Hyper Dash and hand wound motor, for examples, is used. Double FET or Triple FET can increase the capability of Mini-Z ESC for high current demanding motor.
Ok so installing double FET will not allow not have any performance improvement if you use the original motor?
