avant goes XMODS Truck ...
During my visit in the US last week I've missed my little Zs and as the next RadioShack was not too far, well - guess what has happened ...
An H2, AWD-Set, Offroad-Upgrade, etc and here we go with modding the XMODS
OK the XMODS appears more as a toy to me, esp. the front steering construction, but somehow this can be fixed, right
At home I've taken my Dremel and modified the chassis a little - now the XMODS truck has a big flexibility ... and with my Lemo-motor it does excellent in my well known garden trail.
Of course, there are still some things to do, but in general, the XMODS is much better than expected with all the upgrade parts. The turn radius is still too large, so still enough to do and I also need cooldragon's tires for the little XMODS ...
Grüssle,
Jo - there's nothing but a 4WD

Just the ones you'll find at the bottom of my last posting with the pictures ...
More will follow - the performance is (besides the turning radius) much better than my old OL-Crawler.
Just tested right now - I got never stuck in my garden trail ...
Cheers,
Jo

hey avant, great xmod!!!
i was just wondering...i have heard of the lemo-solar motor before, i know that it has tons of torque...but i have been told that they dont ship to the U.S....so i was thinking, how much better is the lemo solar motor than a regular winded motor??? also, for the turning problem you encountered, its probably due to the humonguos tire you put on, but i was thinking either an iwaver or mini-z servo could be adapted with new steering links so that it turns better....what do you think???
just sharing my ideas////

I would say go topless I think the chassis looks better than any body you could put on it!
It looks incredible, great job Avant!

Thanks guys - the Xtruck makes really fun and as much as I can tell now, the performance besides the known esc issues and turning radius is much better than my CrawlerZ ...
@alpha_003 unfortunately Lemo-Solar doesn't ship to the US, but maybe we can make a collective order for the forum after my return from holidays e/o September ?
A regular wounded motor can unfortunately not provide as much torque as a motor with additional gearing ..
Integrating another type of servo might be challenging - first I try some other mods like the Kyo esc and optimizing the mechanical part of the steering
@Newbster - topless is always better But I still like the Mad Killer body ...
Here are some more pics:

Jo

Very nice ! I like the tires , I had some cooldragon overland ones for testing , and they worked very well.
Do you have an email adress for cooldragon ? I would like to contact him about some tyres for my TTTT , thanks.

Hehe - you're right, but as it will not be the final body and as there are GPM alu parts available I don't care
Generally I'm fine as long as I outrun by far the OLs on the garden tracks
Cheers,
Jo
