Best all around Stock Motor to use without Fet upgrade

Hello

I have searched this forum extensively for motors to run without fet upgrade. Although there is vast information, I haven't found many threads comparing the various motors. My objective is to concentrate all that information in one thread. Here is the list I came up:

Kyosho Xspeed
- 50T
Has been said to be the safest motor upgrade

Iwaver Xspeed Plus
- 27T
- Large commutator
- Strong magnets
Much controversy about the ability to run this motor with stock fets

PN Speedy
- 52T
Considered one of the fastest

When you back off throttle, those magnets slows car down very quickly. (a lot of engine braking) but x-speed tends to coast a little longer(or smoother).

ATOMIC Stock
- Dual ball bearing
- High torque
- High Grade Brush

Both drivers were equally matched in skill, but when that x-speed came out of the corners, it had so much torque coming out.

[M'z] Hand Wound Stock Motor
- Bearing case
- Black magnet

MiniZWorkshop Blue Power
- 45T

But u need good tires.

Also, how does the none ball bearing motors listed here compare with the others when inserted in a BB can?

And how these motors would behave with Neo Magnets? Would the fets hold on?

I am not looking for the fastest motor, I want the one that has the best ratio of top speed, torque and control.

Your thoughts and ideas will be appreciated

i have 5 miniZ's all use kyosho Xspeed with bb case~
so far the best non-fet motor i've tried.

and the bb case i use are either Atomic/Audley, but need to be careful and a little skills when installing BB case, orelse the motoro will run slower than the origianl Xspeed

i have a 6th motor lying around...also a kyosho Xspeed without modification.
so many Xspeeds~~ haha

i have run the 3-Racing BB motor alot, i think it is about 3-5kph faster than an x-Speed with same gearing, it is pre-drilled so you can use it with PN mounts, and it has loads of torque

I just purchased a PN Speedy motor from the bay. The main reason I bought it was for the pre-drilled holes. So far I've had the most success with the Kyosho X-Speed motor. The fastest I've used thus far is the Iwaver X-speed.

i have atomic stock, M'z stock, iw Xspeed, and topcad R1

the ATM stock is a nice motor ~ but it has more potential if u use it with a fetted car,
the M'z stock is a non bearing motor which is a little faster than the kyo Xspeed.

the iw Xspeed is a crazily fast motor that i find useless to me.
topcad R1 is not a good motor at all.

by the way i've also tried atm Z1, and some tamiya motors on my mini-z.

Isn't the blue power 50T/31 AWG?

They now have a special edition too: BB Endbel / 47T 31AWG

PN Speedy NM. Ball-bearing, neo magnet, big comm 47T. It's the fastest I've tried so far. Will be trying the Atomic soon.

One thing I wanted to add about Iwaver's x-speed "pro" motor, T*yE*st states on their website that the PCB for the Iwaver 04 supports this motor. Don't know if this is true.

the IW04 pcb can supposedly handle hotter motors (up to 4 amps)
i wouldnt try the iwaver x-speed pro with stock cars.... youll probably end up frying your board

i hear the atomic stock is a gd motor
you can tune how hard the springs push the brushes against the commutator for more torque, and it also comes with neo mags
atomic also claims this

Quote:
RPM
Test Environment: Under 4.8V with 1.8g loading
: 30000 RPM
if you dont get that, the pn speedy in a ballbearing can is also a nice motor...

Yes I have tried the Mini Z Workshop motors....the new Blue Power SE motor is a 47 turn that rocks! About 20% faster than the K X-Speed with better torque to (and it costs about the same money) It is supposed to be stock FET safe (can not vouche for that, everything I have is stacked) But I LOVE it!!!

dogbreath, would the SE armature and endbell with atomic bb can and neos be safe for stock fets(no i wont be plowing full throttle into a wall )?I need this because the blue can was not pre-drilled and i have a pn mount .

Again I can not vouche for the safe, I don't have any with stock FETs,but according to the manufacturer...that armature is safe....from everything I have heard, Neo's actually reduce amp draw? That would make the motor even safer than with stock magnets.

I did drill my own blue can and it works well (I also run the PN/Atomic style mount)
Atomic mount with Blue Power SE

....AND......

...You can get the Blue Power SE built in an Atomic BB can with Neos...it's a couple dollars more but should be worth it for the can and mags. You just have to ask for it built that way. Tell Thomas that Dogbreath sent ya.....

Hope this helped....
