hi. im kinda new to this hobby. so, i got a question... how do you prep a body for painting? what grit sanpaper do you use? got any tips for beginners? thanks in advance guys! and sorry for the mass amount of newbie questions. hehehe...
dont sand paper too much, it can wear the detail out or left marks. wash ur body b4 painting. paint in even streaks, dont concentrate on one area or it will be drippy. do several coats, not too many, do 2-4 coats, do one coat then wait like 15 minutes til the next. make sure u paint every part of the body, dont forget any parts.
thanks ken... btw, does the color of the primer affect the final color? do i need to prime before sanding? and do i need to sand the primer before applying the color coat? just making sure of my understanding of the other thread... thanks!
Sand the surfaces before any painting. 320 grit or higher.
The primer(white, red, grey or black) will effect the final color of any paint.
If you use lacquer, you have the option to sand between coats. Don't sand your final color coat if you use a metallic or a chameleon. Apply the clearcoat directly. The lacquer clearcoat(any lacquer paint) can be rubbed out, polished then buffed. Wax it up, you're done.
