these are designed to be used on 1:64 size toy cars, so I dont think size has anything to do with it. The speed may very well be a big factor though. you may have to get down next to the floor, and point directly at the front of the car as it comes towards you?
Marc was just sitting at the beginning of the straight and just aiming it down the track. He followed a couple cars and you could see it registering the speed as the cars accelerated.
arch may have just got a bad gun? I would like to set one up on a tripod or something at the end of the big straight and somehow link it to a bigger display.

Well I think you have to have a nice long straight and be able to catch it at the angle required to get the reading. If arch2b's track isn't setup with a long enough straight the speeds will seem slow which even in our case 19kmh=12mph which obviously compared to 1:1 is not that fast.
Well I think the reality of it is that the cars may seem slow according to the radar gun compared to say a speed checker. Did you try the radar gun on my favorite driveway???
yeah, sounds to me like you got a lemon on that one arch

That sucks if so. I saw them at the exchange here and wasn't sure if I should get one. Then in Germany Marc had one and was getting readings. I thought it was pretty cool but I don't think it would be as gratifying as the speed checker.
Of course though this is a good tool for tuning. You use this on the corner checking exit speed. Basically you set it up and record the speeds. Then you just try to break the speed record by tuning as well as taking a better line.
not sure but it may wreak havoc with core too. or maybe it was just coincidence as one of the days we had nothing but trouble with core, was one of the days we were using it.
i'll give it another shot this saturday when the guys come over to race.
Yea some days are like that. One day everything works fine, and some strange reason, the next day. Nothing. That's what happened to me last time I visited my local Mini-Z track. Nothing worked!
My brother got one a while ago.. It can't pick up a Stampede or Revo, and always reads like 2 mph. Once it went up to 11, but the Pede' was doing atleast 15 mph...
