I got some good results when fitting the now "spec" PN ML damper to a McLaren F1 LM equipped MR-03 RWD. No extra hardware or parts were needed.
The post went on in place of the rear shock bracket on the motor mount. The shock mount plate is under the damper plate and everything looks good. The damper plate is just a hair under the mid point on the post. That is gonna have to work and I think it will. T-plate testing is next.
This turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be when I had to choose a damper that was easy to obtain. No mods, boy was I lucky...

I just build a small carpet track again, see attachment. Having fun with my FWD. Have a Robitronic timing system.
I wonder: what would be a great single player timing system? Where you could virtually race yourself: a 10-race lap against a previously (or multiple previously) recorder track times, with announcements like "you're in 3rd position, 5secs slower then...". Also, a software for Android would be great, a pc takes way to much space compared to a simple tablet... :-)
Anyway, I want to buy some new body's... for sure the Megane RS, maybe an extra FWD chassis and in that case a Honda, and the new R8 is cool as wel
But, it's just as a single driver, no competition for me.

I really like your layout, it looks like it has great flow and good apexes to hit. That should sharpen your skills.
I like the thoughts about a single player racing system. Now that I have a track once again it would be fun to have more than a full function practice mode. A repeatable self starting function would make a good extended practice run much more productive.
I am devising a FWD plan, I am very curious. The Megane is my favorite offering as well. Even though it just seems like it will be a big body considering the wheelbase and offsets I want to make that body part of the plan. My 2nd choice would be the VW GTI.
Yardwork is done, I have to make a quick dinner and then I am hopefully going to start making some paper templates for the Mclarens so they can have some color. I got some adhesive vinyl on sale so I am happy.

Myself and two other guys have started running mini-Zs together the last couple of weeks. I say running, not racing, because we don't have a scoring system yet.
Current track is on generic foam tiles with PVC lane markers. Two RCP wide L sets are ordered and we are awaiting them.
I remember the fun days of racing these in the early 2000's. I hope we can grow our local group and have lots of fun.

Flipside was always a very user friendly timing program that is great for home/small club use. I've not seen or used Next Level Timing but it sounds similar from what was posted on MZR. The only reason I move to ZRound really was to move to race management aspect when the club moved to a retail environment thus needed much more control and format vs. freestyle runs.
The single most convenient feature that the smaller programs excel at is auto-detecting registrations for races. I can't tell you how much time that would save with ZRound if we could populate the registration simply by having cars drive thru vs. finding transponders numbers in what can be a long directory. Our club directory is extensive and this becomes simply time consuming chore that is un-necessary in my opinion.

I was reading your post in the ZRound thread, and while I'm not sure I completely understand the registration issue you're trying to solve, I'm pretty sure Next Level Timing does what you're talking about. You register/name each transponder one time, and it will remember. So, two months later, you just need to pull up to the starting line and go, and it will recognize you. A new feature just added is being able to register a "Racer", and assign multiple transponders to a single name. I've still been registering each car separately so I can include the car name ("Superfly's Audi R8"), but if I wanted to just say "Team Superfly," I could register all my transponders under that name.
We usually run a practice session before the races to double-check that everyone's transponder is working, and see their name pop up in the list. That's more of a hardware check, and unless it's a brand new transponder, there's never a registration problem.

yeah, right now I have to do it sort of old school in that your pushed to pick selections from a directory vs. essentially scanning drivers. It''s just been a frustratingly time consuming effort that seems arcane when really all you should have to do it open up the registration window for a class/event and scan cars in making sifting through a directory obsolete. Flipside was so user friendly in the way you simply ran thru to setup a race, although they don't offer race management for qualifiers, mains, etc. so it really was not suited to properly formatted race events. I suspect Next Level operates similarly to Flipside. I'll have to download and test it out this weekend but unless it has race management, not well suited to our formatted racing. It says they do management but no real instructions, tutorials or real documentation showing how this is done. Perhaps someone familiar with it can create a 'how to' thread to help inform others.
Back to the subject at hand... I'm not doing with mini-z's anything until Saturday morning .

Yes, sounds similar to Flipside in both respects. It does not have any race management that I'm aware of, simply "practice" and "race".

I opened up my box of Mini-Z rear end stuff and was able to grab 3 more PN dampers for the fleet without digging.
The rental McFleet is well on its way to completion.
My project Porsche GT1 body got some more trimming after my damper search. I plan to remove most of the flat sections out back and build a front panel to control air up front. Should be fun...

Thanks mate, I really like it too. I got rid of my RCP track because I found it too much edgy. The white borders come actually from halved plastic L-profiles. The cut edge is not perfectly smooth, so it sticks a bit into the carpet.
Have to buy a little bit more to complete the track, but it's a lot of fun already.
