RCP Track New Piece Suggestions

Every year I look to design something new for our existing RCP hobby grade tracks. Last year we added the rail protection liners and I am looking to add something new for this year.

Previously we have designed and manufactured some new parts from ideas suggested by our users. If you have some suggestions on new pieces you would like to see, we would like to know.

Feel free to post hear or you can send me an email at tracksales@sbcglobal.net.

Thanks,
John

id like the pink parts on 50cm inside corner tiles enlarged so when making a hairpin bend it looks like it has a bulb on the end

i think something that would allow bankable turns would be nice. rcp doesnt like to be bent to well.

RCP Tiles are really quite flexible and can be bent, shaped and sloped quite easily. I have designed and built numerous tracks for Kyosho at trade shows that included bank turns, level transitions and sloped sections. I will pull up some of the pictures and post here.

Manufacturing a bank turn is a little more complicated. We have looked into having foam sections cut, but it was too expensive. We have also looked at producing triangle shaped pieces to set under the turns, but the track needs support every 6 inches. Laying a piece of thin wood or hardboard and wedging it up with some supports, would be best for making the banks.

With that said, I will open discussions back up for a bank turn addition.

Do you mean a large tear drop looking inside turn? If you could draw a picture that would help.

Well that's disapointing, but I'm glad you looked into it. My suggestion was going to be pieces for changing elevation, under and over passes, etc. A kit, or separate purchase. It would need to be somewhat easy to use, and transportable. I feel that should be one of the next innovations with Mini-z racing, changing elevations, but with out a standard, it could be harder to setup events widespread. I'd encourage you to keep trying, but maybe I'm in the minority.

exactly that,it would force a slightly different line through the corner and make another interesting feature to a layout

i would like to see more things made outta rcp geared towards the monster overland and losi microt... we race these classes every sat at our lhs and right now are making our own jumps and sections outta old pieces of track... it would be nice to see something made that can be easily intergrated with an existing track...

We could do something like this. You could turn the rail over and use it either way. We could also do it in a different color, such as green.

This would be a good piece to have an RCP rail liner installed as the cars would hit the rail and slide off on angled impacts. It might be a piece that would receive a lot of impacts and the rail liner would help protect the rail as well.

how about something like we use on our track. they are 12" round dots that our track owner hrdrvr made out of plywood. they work great but can be hell on cars. he even made wide radius sections. something like that made out of rcp would be nice. i'll try to get some pics for you to look at.

These would be great pieces. Just make them connect to both rails to stabilize them. We are currently taking 4 of the little pink 90* pieces and connecting them into a full 360* and adding it to the end of a hairpin to increase the slowdown. We are securing it with rail liner and double sided carpet tape.

Elevation changes... seem to spice things up on some tracks.

Something "standard" so it could be used in Hfay... would have to be aligned to the track some how so they were all in the same place.

I picture it being put under the track to make ups and downs... even if its just a short hill that goes up and back down within 2 or 3 tile lengths. It could be made out of XXXX cross aligned cardboard or plastic, so it can fold up flat. This would be good for overlands and monsters too.

Or to allow people to step on it with out completely smashing it, a solid block of rcp foam?!

Maybe something inflateable? lol...

Those red/white curbs someone made for rcp was somethign I liked a lot, something for the eye to see and avoid and if you go beyond it then you got a little fudge room to the rail.

Keep the ideas flowing people, having your idea show up in the RCP product line is very cool!!! They used my 45 degree pattern for the Mini-Tiles!

30 degrees? Rolls of RCP?

I've been playing around with the track a little in sketchup and kind of like the idea of a 30 degree angle to mess up the track a bit. Obviously, I lack the math to really make it work well - you can see my test track doesn't mesh right when I tried joining it up. LOL! Some fine-tuning is required, for sure. Could make for some interesting track angles instead of the standard 45/90/180 corners. These are based on the mini-96 template, but would work equally well with the wide format track.

How about rolls of RCP with no puzzle joins whatsoever? It'd be pretty cool to have a strip of like 25' by 4'wide of true-blue RCP foam! Or even have the join strip on the sides like I drew in the attachment.

Kev.

on tinyrc, i suggested day glow start/finish lines for night simulation racing.

you could take it farther and do day glow rails or rail liners so that the entire track profile would glow.
