I'm new to mini-z's, but I know a lot about digital cameras (ha, so what).
Anyway, what kind of batteries do I want? Do they even make rechargeable lithiums, which are lighter? I'm thinking the higher the amperage, the longer the runtimes, ie 800MAH. This might be advantageous for racing.
We use monster cells in all our digital cams and they work a lot better than other brands. Wondering if that carries over to these cars.
From what I've read, for speed, NiCd are better. For long run times, NiMH. I went with energizer NiMH 750mah as they were readily available at Walmart, but next payday, I'll be getting some GP 800s. As a side note, my friend has rayovac 650mah NiMH, and I seem to get about 10 minutes longer run time, although I haven't actually timed it, but that's what it feels like.
If you do a search for NiMH and NiCd here, you'll probably learn more about the subject than you care to know...
I own GP800 and use a quick charger and I get about 40 of strong run time then it twindles from there. I had rayovac 650 and did seem to dump much faster. The GP are the best I have found and since bought a second set to keep going all the time
10 min Z run time is actually double that in real time (20 minutes). I say, I am going down to the track for an hour, then I end up coming home in like 6 hours ADDICTED MUCH

i race with gp 750, i have 8 x4 sets of them.
i've also used 2sets panasonic and 3sets energizer and 3sets of off brand. all of them work with my GP powerbank quick charger and i've had no problems at all. i prefer to use the gp sets though.
