I didn't see that there was a spot to register. I'll do it next time I am there.

Yea you have plenty of tiles for the Hfay sinister... you just need 2 more bumps. The current track this month does not use the bumps try doing some time trials .

Problem:
I registered, but now it won’t accept my password.
When I select the “Forgot Password” option, it says “Email Sent” but I do not receive any email, and of course it won’t let me reregister. BTW there appears to be no “Contact Us” section.

thanks
Opinion:
Requiring someone to register is one of those things that sounds good but in actual practice yields unintended negative results. It seems like such a simple thing but thanks to the overabundance of spam people who use/have work specific email addresses avoid it like the plague. Another unintended effect of requiring registration to view the results is that you loose your best advertising and interest gathering tool, viewing the standings is the bait to get people interested and entice them to join, when they can’t see them they simply loose interest and move on. Which is especially bad right now since many people/groups are thinking about joining but are waiting for the mythical Kyosho core timing system to appear so they can. I know of two organizations that want to sponsor races including participation in HFAY as soon as the new timing systems are available.

As a prime example for this opinion; I have been working with some people who are interested in starting a “formal” mini-RC racing club at a local Navy base the advantage to having a formal club is that you not only get a designated space for the activities but even better yet help with purchasing and storing equipment, in other words the club gets it’s own track, timing system w/computer, drivers stand, and a place to set them up and store them. I used HFAY as one of my big selling points since anyone anywhere in the world could set up a track w/timing system and participate it makes the proposal something that the heavies who have to give the final blessing (signature) are almost obligated to support, it’s a big plus when competing for space against activities that can only be done locally. When I called the local Moral Welfare and Recreation department coordinator following up on an email I sent with a link to the site I realized she hand/could not see the results/standings which was what I had wanted and in fact needed her to see and that she wouldn’t register to do so, and even worse when went to see her I couldn't get on, ouch.

i agree. registration is good for signing up for a newsletter but you could just as easily do a much simpler registration for that by just using an email address and not a formal registration process.

i would not limit access to results based on registration fo rthe very reasons lbrc poitned out.

fyi, there are alreayd a group of navy guys with an rcp track and race where ever they can setup. i think navycheif is his screen name. try emailing him to see how his travels have been going. they stopped by my club while in dc on business.

That’s why I’m helping/spearheading the effort by the local group to make it a formal club, the base has over 15k personel including families but navy personnel tend to be rather transient, deploying every other year and transferring every three or four, when the guys who have tracks go they take them with, which leaves anyone left stranded and abandoned. Funny thing is that being ex navy and a “haha” respectable member of the community it’s easier for me to get something like this pushed through than it is for active duty personnel, besides winter is coming and my tent-track setup is starting to get uncomfortable at night not to mention the fact that people keep dangling photo’s of large tracks if front of our eyes just to make us poor space limited peeps suffer. LoL we just don’t have anyone with a mega sized basement, come to think of it being on an island there aren’t a whole lot of dry basements period. Last year I almost got a designated space from the local youth services department but got bumped at the last minute by Planed Parenthood. Even if we don’t get everything we’re asking for at the very least it should be easier to get a large space to set-up in without jumping through mega hoops and two week advanced reservation requirements.

My scheme is ambitious, multilayered, and devious; if I can get something going at the Base then I can use it to rekindle my town proposal, hopefully ending up with two semi-permanent spaces for larger tracks one at the navy base and one in town, then with any luck at all at least three clubs the minimum necessary for a mini racing league.

I think you guys are right. I will change it, and just suggest that the people that are competing register. I'll get it done

Thanks for the imput, guys.

lbrc, I responded to your email. you should be all set.

Brian

Edit. It's changed, you now longer have to register to see the results pages. I do need to add a contact page.
