Hey, I got a normal miniz and i got it as far as 3 side to sude tennis courts an at the end of the third one my car started to spin around like nuts ! I guess it was am interference. but when i got closer to the car the car responded normally again. Im new to minizs but id say that if you drive around insquare footage of two tennis courts is safe. But i might be wrong.
Over 3 football fields? No way. That's close to a 1/4 mile and you'd be lucky to get a larger scale r/c car to perform that far away.
I'd say the 3 tennis courts as an example is probably the max. The only other way to improve this would be to use the KO or Airtronics radio with the module and have them tuned to put out a full watt of power (which they won't do unless you have an FCC broadcaster's license).
I run a 3 court tennis court as well--yeah it gets twitchy at the end. All that metal fencing I think does it.
I have never done any serious limit tests on my cars. I use homemade antennas on the vehicles so I get better results, overall, than stock, but haven't really pushed it past maybe 200 feet. AM is easily disrupted and blocked and is line of sight for the most part.
i was thinkin about cramin in a novak xxl in my overland. i have one in my minix and it can go well over 1/4mile with no glitch. my overland would be happy to get half of that without wiggling to death. anyways that is another project another time
Well I was running it in a lowes parking lot once, we went from far out from the store, almost to the door of the store... it will go pretty far, further than you can see what it is that your controlling.
