another random track building question

I'm making good progress on my DIY track. Recently I had the idea of making one of the turns a 'slick' turn where the cars would lose some traction as they make the turn. Any ideas on a material that I could use for this? i was thinking of a sheet of smooth plastic of some sort or maybe whiteboard material but not sure where to get either of those. Any ideas or experience with this sort of thing? Thanks.

Is it an indoor track? What is the surface on the rest of the track?

You should be able to get a sheet of lexan reasonably cheap, that might be too slick though. Maybe foamboard - they sell this in office supply and craft stores for project work. It's just a thin sheet of foam with a layer of plastic on each side. It's easy to cut with a hobby knife or box cutter for larger cuts, and is pretty cheap. Maybe $3-4 for a 30" x 30" piece.

use extreme caution with any plastic/lexan material. The static electricity from these surfaces will knock your Richard stiff. I can't imagine that the high quality receiver in a mini-Z would do anything but go crazy after getting a nice crisp static hit.

We used to race on the blue inulation foam found at hardware stores. It comes in varying thicknesses and has a lot less grip than carpet or fatigue mat, but is still drivable.

I think tar paper (those black ones used for roofing) can be an option for you. My basement track surface used to be tar paper, it has less traction than say fatigue foam pads, but not so slippery that's undrivable. Also easy to cut and trim into the size/shape you need. Quite cheap too.

Downside though is that it tends to buckle and gets bumpy after a few months of use.

wow! thanks for the ideas. All of those options sound really cheap so maybe I'll try them all out and see what works best. I'm using the anti-fatigue mats for the rest of the track right now so anything with less grip than that could work. When everything is all done I'll post some pics and vids. thanks again.
