Opinion on new Squat carbon fiber chassis

I just stumbled across this. Sorry if it's already been discussed in another thread, but what's your take on Squat's new carbon chassis design? Here's the link:

Good find cymr1; I just checked w/ the Prez. of Squat and he said they're postponing production again for a short while (it was originally to be released at the same time as the OL racing kit etc.), but we'll be getting them as soon as they're out!

So what does everyone think about the design itself. I'm debating between a Pro-Z and this one until the new chassis comes out.

You've got a point there lightfighter. I don't see any type of strap that would hold the batteries in place, so it looks like I'll be dusting off the old strapping tape like back in the Pan Car days. The motor is mounted mid-ship, hopefully that piece (long h-plate) comes with the kit.

Is the chassis conversion that is posted at Mini-Zbar the same as the Squat?
They look very similar: same battery layout; same backwards steering set up.

'sup wit dat?

Ah... I didn't notice the backwards steering set-up. This kit uses the newer Kyosho tie rod design. So that means a set of new knuckles and tie rods are on the shopping list as well.

Correct, the chassis requires MZW26, as well as one of the three packs/holders S411/2/3. We're ready to begin a group buy on these now:

Chassis Bundle w/ Knuckle Set:

Battery Packs/Holders:

Sign up now as there will only be 500 made!

I placed my group-buy pre-order just by clicking on the links and purchasing. I got the 5 cell pack to go with the new chassis. I like the fact that the chassis is bundled with the needed knuckle set.

Hi Dave,

Once the 500 packs are sold, is it okay to sell my aaa, 2/3 aaa battery bars here? I have battery bars for up to 1000 battery packs, I believe.

These are pretty much the highest quality, lowest resistance battery bars. Gives the mini z a 1/10th scale look too, just like the pan cars, etc.

If so, I plan to sell it for $3.99 shipped. Let me know. Thanks.

Btw, I wonder how this will compare to the Pro-Z, which I have been very impressed with. I own 2 of them, because I'm very happy with what my Pro-Z does for me. Please set aside one for me and I will pay you as soon as they arrive. Thanks Dave.

The ordering fiasco associated with the Pro-Z has made me shy away from the company totally. However Squat is reputable so i'm having this chassis reserved. Be interesting to see how it handles on track. Looking forward to it.
