Finally got a chance to drive the Autoscale last night...

Crap, my 599 and Mosler are officially being retired. The Audi is a little less stable on-throttle than either of them, due to lack of rear weight, but turn-in and corner speed are absolutely amazing. Much faster than the 599 and a little faster than the Mosler, and per transition/chicane you pretty much pick up 1/10 of a second because the R8 is so light and so low.

Absolutely brilliant, can't wait to get my white body painted up. Also, should probably be banned or regulated in Box Stock classes such that it doesn't have such a ridiculous advantage.

So far, so good. Got to test/run it last Sunday. Felt pretty much like Brian (color) said and thats with +3 all around on a medium, fast and tight areas track. Working on different body tweeks.

I always pop the side clips out and gluestick them back in, lets me set the height perfectly if I work fast at it too. While the hotglue is still in it's malleable state, I pop the body onto the chassis and set it up by pulling or pushing on the body, setting it on a flat surface to eyeball it. Once it's set, I usually melt the plastic inside the clips with a heated allen wrench right where it goes into the chassis, just a little bit though... A little smush of the things, just enough to make them stick into the chassis.

Oh, and try to use the yellowish type gluestick, the clear stuff doesn't really form too solid or sticky.

A good strong rubber band around the body then a steady but careful application of heat along the sides below the windows with a heat gun or a decent hair dryer until the body starts to relax and the sides give against pressure from the rubber band. Let cool and mount to chassis.

the rubber band approach looks interesting. thank you for the tips. i usually just use a good fibre tape when i mount the body.

R8 offsets

I started off with 98MM, +2 Front and Rear, with Kyosho 10 Rears and Kyosho 30 fronts. Set up seemed to be fine. I went over to Cristians house (Reflex Racing) and he helped fine tune my MR-03. Lap times dropped .4 sec the first day!

I want to try the +3... but it looks like i will have to grind off some of the front fenders.. they are close with 2mm.

I use the white auto scale.... and I do the same when i mount the body. I have glue that sets up in about an hour. i glue it and set the height.

Kinda just got back into Mini-Z.. i was a die hard ENZO person.. but now i like the R8 so much better... very stable... i wish the 10's in the rear would last a bit longer... i go thru tires like crazy!

Don't Worry, +3 all around in PN, Atomic, or TRP wheels works like a charm and no rubbing at all.
I have been Racing R8 LMS every Friday night club race since 8/2012 so I can voucher for it!
